OK, here's the thing (please read this entirely)...

We are still very much at the beginning of what hopefully becomes a multi-year, many-season progressive league. I think people are just exploring the rules in order to have the best league possible.

From what I've see, it becomes difficult to keep progressive leagues going. If people feel there are shady deals going down or that they are unfairly handicapped they'll be more likely to walk away. So the better and tighter we regulate the rules the better the league will be in the long run and the more likely it will be to survive.

Now, I don't want to cast aspersions, but we already have some reasons to be concerned. For instance, we have at least two owners who signed up with their first posts in WIS history AND these will be their first teams in WIS history. I don't know about you, but I just wasn't that sophisticated when I first joined WIS to jump into the forums and find a newly launching progressive league to join. So, these teams seem suspicious to me and yes, I'm concerned about it.

As much as we'd like to believe everyone is on the up-and-up I've unfortunately encountered those who are not. We need to structure the league in such a way as to protect ourselves from subterfuge. Otherwise we won't have a league at all.

As the saying goes, better safe than sorry. So I'm in favor of taking our time and flushing this out now, even if that requires some backing up.
Can't say about bigthirsty, but danscleaners is my dad. we used to play all the time, he used the name absodapdan. he forgot his password and didnt have the email account that it was tied to so he had to create another user name because there was no way to retrieve his password. he is not "a new user in his first season" he hasn't played in years, i believe 2004 or so was his last time using that account, and wanted to get back in when i told him of this league.

Aren't there still picks to go ahead of this one? Or did he trade up

yeah I'm guessing he's figuring no one trading or moving up.

So when did we go back to allow trading up and switching draft positions? I thought your posts on 9/27 at 4:55 PM said we can't trade up and also we can draft out of order to speed things up.

This has probably been covered but if so, I've missed it...

Let's say I trade with 1915 for someone who was still playing in 1928. Would I have a choice of putting him on my roster as of 1915 or 1928? I assume those would be the only options. Like you couldn't trade and start him at 1921 or something. Please clarify, thanks.

I think if he was a keeper in 1915 he should play on 1915

My understanding is this. I'll use my team as an example.

1927 Eddie Collins is on my team. Not Eddie Collins. 1927 Eddie Collins. If I trade him to 1915, or 1919, or whatever, he is still 1927 Eddie Collins. He will progress every year as 1927 Eddie Collins progresses. There is no way to "reset" him other than cutting him.

Once he's cut, he can be drafted any year. And then he becomes that player. Let's say I cut him after 1927 and he gets drafted by 1919. Then he is 1919 Eddie Collins. If he is traded he will remain 1919 Eddie Collins.

yes, but if you're trading a draft pick, say from 1908 to 1915, and then the 1915 team drafts Walter Johnson - would they have to start with 1908 Johnson? I'd say yes.

1915 can only draft from 1915 from what I understand. They would have '15 Johnson not '08 Johnson

You can't trade draft years as the rules stand. You only trade slots.
9/28/2009 1:11 PM
well since 1987 can't take him, i'm just going to go ahead and draft the second greatest closer of my time, Trevor Hoffman.
