screwing power teams! Topic

I would of liked to done the study by record, but that was going to greatly increase the time required to do the study. Take care, I am off for 10 hours.

Derailed! Good thing anyway, this thread was going nowhere.

You're saying it's going somewhere now?

This "crapshoot" discussion already played itself out once before. We determined that arguments on the internet cannot change peoples' minds.

That is all.

Tropicana and I both have exactly .500 records in the playoffs. I used to think you had an advantage over the people who said that the playoffs "were a crapshoot" but since then, my best maneuvering has landed me squarely at .500.

And my thinking in the opposite direction has landed me at .500.

Does this prove or disprove what I was saying? Cause I honestly don't know, lol.

No ones mind has evr been changed by an internet argument?

How about..."No ones mind has ever been changed by a radio talk show host" or "No ones mind is changed by what they hear on Television".

Wis said that Carryover Reform was dead in GD. There was discussion on the boards so the topic never died. Today we have carryover reform!

I guess you'll have to pardon my use of the absolute "cannot", then. Do enjoy yourself trying to prove to be the exception to the rule. I'll now resume ignoring you.

Give me a few more minutes.

Why would you ignore me?

I believe swamphawks original assertion was about screwing power teams. I have to concur, most, if not all, of my 3-4-5 hitters are dropping 200 points or more in OPS.

If you want to see the result of this, my team in Fingers is an excellent example. Since the update, the losing team has scored 2 or fewer runs 75% of the time. Swamphawk is right, this isn't "the steroid era is over" it IS 1911.

My minor problem is the beating my teams are taking from the adjustment. My MAJOR problem is WIS, arbitrarily, at a moment, doing a 180 degree change in how the game operates.

I haven't noticed any drop in power in any of my 5 teams
11/26/2009 3:25 PM
The people that seem to be impacted are the people who have power ratings above 70 or so.

And it seems across the board.
11/26/2009 10:53 PM
Uhhh...no it doesn't. There's a number of people who have said they've seen no effects.

I have not chimed in here yet because anyone who has been on this site for more that a year should expect and welcome any changes.

Swamp if you get them to change the amount of errors that SS's make should I start a thread ******** about how I wasted money making sure I had good fielding SS's and sacraficed good hitting to get them.

Should I then point out I am being screwed because people who wanted their 87-79-78-79 SS who was a good hitter to field as well as my 85-90-91-89 **** hitter got something for nothing?

I have also not seen a major difference in most of my hitters. I have 3 guys in CAPRA with power over 80. 1 is on pace to hit slightly fewer HR's with the same average as last season. 1 is on pace to hit fewer HR's and Doubles with his average right where it always was and 1 will hit more homeruns and doubles with his average lower than expected.

All that tells us absolutley nothing since a good sample size would be about 5,000 AB's

Fact is nobody is sure how this will play out. Probably not even the developers. Be gratefull that the HBD development team takes an active role in trying to improve the game. Whenever a change is made, this is not the 1st one, somebody gets screwed and other benefit. That is the way it has been, always will be and needs to be for the game to develop and get better.

And I am in no way a WIS apologist. Just ask the site staff

So here I am thinking how can I easily get a sample size of 5,000 AB's. Well how about the average stats from team stats page.

Capra Season 13 233 HR's in 5760 AB's or 1HR every 24.72 AB's

Capra season 14 187 HR's in 4,817 AB's or 1 HR every 25.76 AB's

That means that if the average team gets to 5760 AB's there would be fewer HR's (GASP!) a whole whopping difference of 9.4 HR's.

Season 13 AVG .271 OB% 338 SLG .445 OPS .783

Season 14 AVG .269 OB% .336 SLG .438 OPS .774

Not quite a 200 point drop is it.

HRs have always been unrealistically high in HBD. I don't want or need players to hit 80 HRs. If the above example is typical, it's not a huge downgrade and may bring HDB more in line with reality instead of HR derby.
