HBD Update Suggestions Topic

I have a Rookie that is leading the Majors in Stolen Bases (71), but is not in consideration for Rookie of the Year because he is not a power hitter. I think that awards criteria needs to look at more than homeruns and RBI's, or is HBD still skewed toward the Steroid Era?

Fix it so that we don't have to wait until halfway through the cycle after the last spring training game (which is always a PM2 sim) to start working on lineups and rotations for all levels.

You basically lose an entire after work evening (the time between 7:30 and 11:15 eastern in my world) waiting for spring training to finalize where you could be setting this stuff up.

I would like to see a change in the schedule. 14 games against your 3 divisional rivals. 8 games against each of the remaining 12 league teams. Then play 4 inter-league teams 6 times each.

You're right it would be fun, I never saw one, not even close to my hometown.

Check out Orval Yeats.

His rookie year, he hit .309 with 109 SB and only 4 CS. He happened to have the highest batting average of all AL rookies as well. Regardless, he was not included in the RoY voting; I doubt stolen bases factor much if at all into the process even though in real life this guy would have run away with the award.

Yorvit Ortiz is another good example from this past season. His batting ratings are solid if unremarkable (.753 OPS); however, he won the 2B Gold Glove in his rookie year, shattering the single-season world record with 21 plus plays at 2B (plus another 3 in 126 innings at SS). You'd think you'd at least be able to VOTE on whether such a player should be RoY, but alas, he was also not included in the voting.

So yes, I agree that the criteria is extremely skewed and does not reward players who are remarkable in areas that RL voters would very much respect.

Bad idea. You get an abandoned team on your division, or have a team that is tanking in your division, then the entire wild card race is thrown off because you now have three teams with a distinct advantage since they have 6 more games against a completely non-competitive team than do the other three divisions.

This has probably been covered in other posts, but...

Coach Hiring doesn't need to last 3 real-life days. One or two is more than enough. Also, more coaches in the pools.

Allow me to promote coaches that want to stay. Too many times I've lost good coaches because they want to be promoted to a position where I already have a good coach, yet I can't promote either of them to a level where I have an opening. Frustrating.

Love the IFA suggestion above. Give us all the prospects at once, give us some time to go over on whom and how we want to bid, and then give us a negotiating time frame much like how FA are done in the offseason.

I would like to see a correlation between Coll/HS scouting budgets and quality of DITRs. If you put 20/20 into scouting, you should have a better chance at getting good DITRs, if you go 0/4, then you should have a smaller chance. Pretty fair and realistic way to reward good scouting for something other than being able to see half of the good players in the draft that you will never get on your roster.

I 2nd this.

I suggested in the survey that you should get some sort of random bonus from management for coming in under budget on payroll for the previous year. So if you come in at $10M under, you may get a bonus back from management - maybe up to 1/2 that amount.

But they'll add it in to something to improve the team, like training, medical, or scouting. and you get the additional money (if any) only AFTER you set the budget so you can't budget on the cheap.

+1 love that idea, I'm also a big fan of the ability to have multi colored notes, so that I can easily differentiate from elite, good and average prospects
Both are fabulous ideas.

Also there is a "MLB avg" field rating guide by position. How about an average hitting rating guide by position as well?

Huh?

Hitting ratings are not tied to defensive positions played.

But there is still a ML average. Why shouldn't we know it?

I'd like to see a world records page for awards.

The list of the top overall All-Star appearance, All-Star appearance by position, Silver Sluggers by position, Cy Youngs etc.

I'd tabulation of league leaders. ie Ichiro has won the batting title 4 times.

With the HOF open these are things that would make voting easier
