I really don't care to hear your whining. I do not condone these offenses if they happened. People that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
All right sox please tell me when any organization other than the neo nazis have done these things?
I become irate when people treat you-tube as a legit info source, when people have parroted what the radio people have said as though it were gospel.
The conservative ideals were once admirable but they are a far cry from today's conservatives.
Sox I have respect for you and your opinions. Please understand this. I'm sure you have seen my posts before .... ask yourself ... if challenged would I show you documentation from multiple sources?
Swamp rarely shows any documentation and pays for his disrespect by getting torn up. You tend to either document or show the tendency to see more than one side of an argument, this is why I have no problem with you.

Now for the fun......
Please defend the Downing street letters, Haliburton, and water boarding, never mind I was just showing you that the conservative house is made of glass also. After all Clinton lied to congress to cover up a B-job and was impeached Reagan sold weapons to the people who are using them to kill our brave boys and they want to put him on Rushmore. My opinions really don't mean anything in a society that would do that
Hey tark,

Peter Stark called bush a liar on the house floor 2 times. Bush was called a " war monger" during a session of congress, I can't find that one on the internet, but I think you would remember that also. He was also called a "priveledged white boy "by members of the media. I am at work right now and half the sites I go to are blocked, so I'm sorry if I can't give you a site to prove these. I think you will remember them if not i can get the sites when I get home.

As far as my first post, my main arguement is not with Washington or the media, I realize that media extremes will do this to any president, like Hannity calling Obama the annointed one and so on. My post was more about people in this forum. Except for a special 2 people in here, I have never called anyone names, and have never used slurs. Many times I have been called names, just for giving my view. It is this that really upsets me and what my original post was about.

I appreciate a good conversation and try to understand each side of a arguement.

more fun

10 downing street as I recall was a letter sent to MI6 or obtained by MI6, showing Bush was ready to go to war with Iraq, even though all the intelligence was not in and did not support WMDs.

That is all I really know about the letter. I still support the war itself. I think the war is justified by a few things getting a murdering dictator out of office, keeping terrorists in the region to fight our soldiers instead of attacking our civilians, and hopefully to help the people of Iraq.

Haliburton, you know as well as I some company was goin to get that fat contract whether Republicans or Democrats were in power.

Water boarding-Seems like torture to me, so does being in a 3 foot by 3 foot cell with lights blaring for days on end. I have seen some documentaries that we have done that to our own prisoners. Also being in solitary confinement for months with no light, no toilet, crap where you eat, also done to our own prisoners. To sum this one up, define torture, or define torture on a global scale, what can and can not be done to prisoners of war. If it saved 1 US life or saves one US life to continue water boarding I am for it.

They wanted someone in the crowd to say something hateful so they could make it about Race. This was staged 100%. The video that is supposed to prove spitting shows someone screaming at someone close up. "say it dont spray it" was the old phrase when someone was screaming and some spit flew on you. The Democrats now see it as a racially motivated attack. It was all garbage, like all the other garbage. I say we make a movie with a guy that looks just like Obama getting shot and see what happens.
Swamp if I said the same thing about Bush or that feeb Reagan when he was alive you would be all over me....big surprize your a hypocrite!
Please note soxfan I don't think you would have said this this is why swamp gets dumped on.

Sorry...they made a movie about a Bush look alike being killed. And of course you never heard about it. Just like you never heard about Bush being compared to Hitler, and threats against Bush, and people calling Bush names.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0853096/

Of course anything with Obama is trumpeted.

I have two questions for you then:

1) How do you feel about the Republicans blocking the current financial regulation bill, which couldn't get past a cloture vote in the Senate yesterday?

2) If the economy picks up real steam sometime around 2011 or so, and Obama's budget staunches the bleeding in the deficit, would you consider voting for him in '12?
4/27/2010 10:18 AM
Anton - wasn't just the Repubs - both Reid and Nelson also voted no. Albeit for different reasons I am sure.

I certainly have not read that much about the back and forth from this bill, but what I have read from the Repubs is that they are not against reform, they just want an appropriate amount of time to actually read the bill, and debate it.
4/27/2010 11:28 AM
Maybe there's an argument on the first point (reading the bill), but the no-vote actually prevents the bill from ever being debated...

Like I said before, I think this is a terrible move for the GOP...it's going to make HCR a distant memory and write a new, problematic narrative for the midterms. There's no way the Democrats don't lose seats, but it's going to stop the bleeding a decent bit, I think.
4/27/2010 11:35 AM
rlahann - I thought that the cloture vote is a vote to END the debate, and bring the matter before the full Senate for an up or down vote?
4/27/2010 11:51 AM
Really? Totally possible that I have it backwards...time to do some reading.
4/27/2010 11:53 AM
Either way - you are mostly correct I think - it is going to get done - it is just a question of what kind of special deals get written into it (for people like Warren Buffet), and how both sides try to spin it. And whether or not it has any real regulatory teeth, or it is a paper tiger, so they can say something to the effect of "Look what we did!"
