Rangerup's rebuild with 4 advance scouting Topic

Well, there's no question that you learned taking a good team and not doing much with it would result in a winner.  Congrats.

Combining that skill along with being a badass watchdog puts you at the top of the HBD food chain.

You know how I judge a winner?  By their record.   When a team wins 110 the previous season, there's a good chance that they're a good team.  Hope I didn't give away your scouting secrets, sheepdog.   Or were you the wolf?   That was a very confusing analogy.
This is an easy way to do it, good job Mike.  But you can also look deeper if you understand which types of players are usually in high demand, or hard to get (take more to give up to land them).  So looking deeper to see if those core players that are easier to build around to create a division winner has more to it than just looking for the past couple of seasons worth of wins.

Sometimes what looks like an average-ish reliever is not, his durability is going to afford him to throw a lot of average innings, creating space on your payroll for a difference maker piece, as an example.

So while I appreciate your put down on me, there is more to it than just looking at record.

Ranger's a quick learner.  He mastered the game after one season and an hour on the forums.

Oddly enough, this is true.  I did learn a little thing here and there after one full season, but 90% or so of what it takes to be successful playing HBD I learned in one season.  Pay attention, read and learn and it isn't terribly hard to do so.  Anyone could do it.  So don't go posting about how I think I am smarter than anyone else blah blah, it is possible for anyone.

But, people play this game for different reasons, some play to slowly build a winner with their own drafted guys, this takes longer, I am doing it in one of my world now.  Some want to go trade savvy and build a winner that way, I have tried this method too.  Some look for teams that have the core talent and only lack one or two pieces to win, I tried this too.  There are many different routes to enjoyment in the game, and I have tried them all.

It probably does, but you said it, not me.  I do appreciate the rampant jealousy though from you and tecwrg.  Neither one of you can stand that there might be someone that understands the game the way you both think you do, and doesn't back down to your stupid meaningless attacks.

The fact is, most who play this game know what they are doing.  I have met very few owners that were completely clueless.  Even stevehoggett has understanding, he just happens to be an *** is all.

"Rampant jealousy".  Yep, you sure nailed it.

Jackass.

Ranger has a lot of support when he was commish. 1/32 votes to remain commish for more than 2 weeks.
8/21/2012 11:24 AM
Actually it was Dishmoda and Saffron, two long time owners who asked for the vote. Not myself.

The seven total votes you claim is also incorrect. I have the results here.

Rangerup 1
Nasboat 1
Diamond 9
Stewart_UK 12
Dishmoda 1 (write in, wasnt on the ballot)

You also keep saying last year was my first season, it was my second. You also seem to forget the entire arguments started because you said it was your right to trade with new owners without anyone middling and giving them advice.

And since you asked, the point of the post is to warn all commishes of your high moral ethics.

Ranger, you have specifically said that you will not allow someone to take over your team that you worked hard at building. That is why you claim you made the trades you made. That is the point moe was making, you have no problems taking a team over that another owner worked hard building but you won't extend the same courtesy to others. The more you continue the more likely that nobody will want you in their world, including the ones that you are currently in. You do understand the commish does NOT have to let you renew. They can keep you from returning.
Actually that is not true, unless you violate a guideline, the commish does have to let you re-up if that is what you want to do.  I was a commish and had this issue come up.  Not that is has anything to do with your point, just letting you know.
Well I was also a commish for over 15 seasons not just a couple and I'll tell you that if I didn't want someone to renew regardless of them being within the rules, I didn't have to let them. Their attitude alone was enough for me to keep them out, maybe your higher level of morals doesn't apply to CS and they may like me more so they let me. I just KNOW after WAY more time as a commish I could keep people from renewing in MY world if I wanted to.
I can't tell you your wrong if you think you accomplished it.  But if it were possible, I would still be in Mike Greenwell and stevehoggett would not be.  I asked WifS about this very thing as he was a cancer to the world and not one owner liked him when I was commish.  Halfway through his first season there everyone wanted him gone, I went through several tickets seeing what I could do, and the response was, "as long as he is not violating fairplay guidelines and making detrimental moves to his team, if he pays for the next season he can stay".

Another moot point however, as I am a good solid owner in all of my worlds, don't rock the WC boat, never personally attack anyone in a childish way to start things, and compete.

I quit using any kind of strategy after I took a 2-0 series lead and got personally attacked for using a legit strategy.  I let the AI run the series and dumped the next 4 games to lose it.

Congratulations.

Good solid owner who competes except for dumping the WS.... might want to reassess yourself...

He dumped it by starting his normal line up and starting the followiong SP's

I admit that he did stop using the tandems, but the tandems were most effective when we were in the NL park and only 1 of the last 4 games were in the NL park.. He pretty much covered all of his bases by being up 2-0 and stating that he was throwing the series.. If he had went on to win he would have been an ahole and said you suck so bad I cant even throw a series to you and now that he lost he just says I gave you the win.. I dontthink Ive posted in the thread until now and this is the 2nd or 3rd time he's tried to bring me into this discussion..

I wouldn't expect you to back down.  You've explained, in detail, how you take care of your business.   I have to admit that I'm a little imtimidated by your stated awesomeness.

I think we already went over that stevehoggett, although I know you love to bring it up.  I was commish for three weeks, became commish in an effort to do something about you and your season 1 mouth, which multiple TC's to me wished would go away.  As commish I tried to get you gone, couldn't do it.  Then, out of nowhere the Mouth starting lobbying for a re-vote in WC for a new commish.  Since I had always said if the world doesn't want to be led, I would be happy to step aside, I let the vote happen.  I did send you a TC though asking you to please step aside, as commish I would handle it, yet the Mouth could not close and kept WC'ing all manner of nonsense almost like you thought you were running things.  I had to answer many TC's saying "I don't know what this clown is doing, he won't listen to me and I cannot make him leave".

The fact is, only about 7 owners even bothered to cast a vote, so I did get 1 in 7.  Which is fine, that doesn't bother me, you can't lead those who don't want to be led.

But again, what is the point of your post if not to make a dig as someone who you are jealous of?
Did you discover the word "jealous" today?    You sure are using it a lot.

We appreciate you being the warning siren for all of humanity.

I didn't trade with any new owners, I made two trades with long time veterans.

My apologies for thinking it was your first season, I was wrong, it was your second.

Whether or not you initiated the vote, my point was that you took over the WC and insisted on running the world for the good of you.  I politely asked you to slow down, I would be happy to handle it as acting commish, but you had your own agenda, sort of like now.

I also don't care about anyone giving advice to new owners, I did it quite often myself.  I did however have a slight problem with you giving advice to new owners, as the two buddies you invited into Mike Greenwell were disasters being as they were acting on your orders quite often and you had no experience of your own.  You have an innate sense of wanting to meddle in everything you touch.
