How can the parents ensure that.

By being attentive, checking homework, working with the kids at home, and many other ways.

I know plenty of parents who simply do not have the time to do that because of jobs and such. Most parents in poverty just don't have that kind of time.

Regardless of income, parents need to MAKE TIME. I'm sure parents in higher income brackets are busy too. They need to make sure their White Privilege doesn't get in the way of parenting...get Grandma or an older sibling involved. The bigger problem is indifference, not time...kids would be less likely to join a gang or quit school, if the family was in fact a family. Watch The Waltons reruns.

tang is not a parent. I am. You can always find time to help your kids. All these "poor" people seem to have smart phones and wear Nike sneakers. I not only check their homework but I help them with projects and teach them about history, etc. Take them to museums, walks around Boston (free), etc.

Parenting is a full time job.

BTW Eqalizing education is NOT taking away personal responsibility. You still have to put in the work to actually graduate. It just means that everyone has a level playing field.

When I taught at a poor inner city school for 3 years. When was the last time you worked at an "underfunded" school?
