All sales are final! No refunds, no exchanges. That's the way it's always been and the way it should always be.

I understand, and it is a bit of a pickle. If you don't make any proxy picks for the missing owner, and he never shows up then you have an entirely undrafted team and you can't have that. On the other hand, if the owner does show up then the owner won't want a team that he didn't draft and you end up taking over a team that you didn't intend. And I should have let smokey know what was going on so he wouldn't have to "worry" about having an undrafted team that nobody wants. The way it unfolded does seem the lesser of two evils, and it's not ideal either for the reason you mentioned. I would make the rule...

If an owner is skipped for the 2nd time in a row, then proxy picks will be made unless the owner informs the commish ahead of time and instructs not to make proxy picks. All proxy picks will be final. In the event that an owner is unable to notify the commish ahead of time, like in the case of emergency, then the owner will be allowed to make replacement picks out of the remaining draft pool. What constitutes an emergency is left up to the commish's discretion and tender mercy.

I beseech the commish, as my case was clearly an emergency. I was sailing on the Titanic. As the ship started to sink, two girls were fighting over who would get in the lifeboat with me. The fat girl was winning. So I jumped overboard asked the captain how far away to swim to the nearest land. He said 2 miles down.

IMO is should be noted that absences have happened only about 5 or 6 times in 22 DDL. Some were voluntarily, as in this case, some involuntary. this is a important difference. When voluntarily absent, I believe the owner should communicate with the commissioner and if possible send some sort of proxy list or have the a fellow owner pick on a best effort basis, or as Pex indicted, make the picks upon they're return. the best effort has been done in the DDL bedore, and the pick when I return has also been done before. Involuntarily has happened in which case the players are picked to protect the competitive nature of the league. Upon the owners return IMO they should be allow the choice of keeping the picks or selecting new players. At which time a league sm indicating which players are returned to the draft pool should be sent. After 22 leagues we have had involuntary absences also. Note, this in no way reflects on pex, he was accorded the same treatment all others have been accorded up to this point. Also the returned players could be unavailable until the following day, giving all owners a reasonable heads up.

i see your point you are trying to make but i disagree with the notion the released players should be held back for another day as then you are just favoring a different set of owners who pick earlier. when pex exercised his choices he chose one of the players i was targeting, would he have been there when i made my choice we won’t know, but i don’t feel any guilt over choosing the released player if i feel he was the best alternative.
