I cannot believe we let Porter fall to dBKC in the 5th. Absolutely perfect pick for his team. Looks like the favorite to me.
dBKC & Pex were the overwhelming favorites before the FIRST pick of the draft
IMO

Derby season coming to Kentucky....
I'd parlay a ticket of Pex, dBKC and Kinoa
with a daily double on Pex and dBKC... maybe play a BOX there,
although the paramutual numbers on them would already be low enough to limit the payout

There has to be competition for something to be a rivalry

you know, pride is such a glaring weakness. it's nice to be able to stomp on it whenever i feel like it. i couldn't imagine having such an obvious design flaw

I have no dog in this race but I’d like to understand your logic. I’m not trying to debate you. Looking to establish empathy.

By your logic:

Repeated and sustained success is a design flaw. But unearned hubris (constant trolling and challenging conventional wisdom with no success to back it up) is somehow a positive character trait?

see, here's a curious debate that occurs in other areas of my life:

does one need success to have an opinion?

i'd argue that the lack of qualifications gives one the freedom to express themselves without consequence, whereas the responsibility of leadership demands greater accountability from those with some sort of platform.

in the end, though, the fact that he holds his WIS success in such high regard makes him an easy target. if i can poke a hole in it, i've won. if he can poke holes in my resume where they already exist, so be it. i'll just say, "yeah, you're right, over the last two seasons you've won two more points than me. your confidence has been reminiscent of Floyd Mayweather and you've never finished in the top 3. sure, I had LeBron and you didn't, but you claim to be good at this. I 'just got lucky' with Cheeks and <undrafted>."

it's funny to watch a man clutch so tightly a system which most of you feel doesn't work as intended and encounters far too much variance to be taken seriously. that's unlimited entertainment in my book. the minute he realizes how fickle the SIM can be and how he can't possibly be master of the universe in every league, i won't be having nearly as much fun at his expense.

in fact, the lack of success gives me the freedom of greater experimentation. because i don't hold myself to a lofty standard, i can play shooting guards who can't rebound at the 3. i don't have to worry about what anyone thinks; i'm already quite aware.

I guess man. But you could also stop trying to antagonize folks. I think people are trying to make an effort to quit posting about about these public leagues in private forums, chats, sitemails etc. and use the public thread again. But we are all just going to give up if it is a bunch of petty fighting instead of friendly banter. Personally I don’t see the fun in it.

My $0.02. You can all do with it what you want. I don’t have much else to say on the matter.

"i'd argue that the lack of qualifications gives one the freedom to express themselves without consequence"

This is why i do not participate on any social media platform

I'm going to say it. That was the most rational and measured response from bds ever.

Not saying I agree, disagree, or even care. Just that it's better than scorched earth replies.

Certainly better than the baseline.

I don't really antagonize, robusk. It seems to me - and perhaps only to me - that he can't ever help but respond to my opinions. If only you and he both knew that my opinions aren't fact, aren't legitimate theory, and don't need to be taken seriously. They are just questions, attempts to overcome variance, and part of a seemingly never ending quest to expose inefficiencies in the SIM. there are good owners who keep making the same mistakes, and I just wonder if I can't possibly do any better. After all, if I don't, I'll never defeat them in a league anyway. While your knowledge of the SIM may assist in my pursuit a championship, I have to somehow do better. Otherwise, I'll never be the best over a two and a half month period. That's all I need. I'm not great, although I've been much better than I was, and I suppose most of you will never take me seriously. That's fine; all I need is two and a half months of being better than most of you. The ways in which I've contradicted conventional wisdom successfully don't need to be appreciated or acknowledged, so long as I continue on my quest unimpeded and unprovoked

And, trufhfully, I've had responses just as measured as these which you've mocked. You're not blameless. Don't try to pull the wool over my eyes in that regard. I'll gladly pull out receipts if needed

Thanks for the thoughtful and measured response. Carry on.

If it puts your mind at ease somehow, when I had that one ODL squad with Otto Porter and <undrafted> that you thought would win 30 something games, I thought I had enough defense. You've proven to me that I need as much as I can get, both with words and example, and I have learned and improved from the application of that principle. I'll still prioritize extra efficiency over extra threes because I think it leads to better outcomes, but I heard you and changed my approach. I'm not immune to logic and reason, as it turns out.
3/15/2021 4:21 PM
You say you don't antagonize, but you do. Often. Out of the ******* blue, most of the time. I've tried to leave you alone, but at times, you say things that are just too ******* impossible to leave alone. The sheer fact that you gain justification in ******* up your team that you spited my plans (newsflash: There were several other guys who did that... your two picks alone did not do that) easily points back to you as strongly if not moreso than anything I have responded to.

But it doesn't matter whose at fault. I'm tried of this. I'm tired of feeling like I can't ******* comment in a commentary thread without knowing that at some point, you're going to stick your little nose in there and try to start a fight.

This is LAST the last chance. It is going to get really ugly & embarrassing if you continue. I don't want to do what I'm going to do, but it will happen. Stop. I don't even want an apology. Just quit.
