We know Lincoln wanted to end slavery. SC gave him reason to start a war. He took it. That's "orchestration".
fundamentally wrong. wrong as wrong gets. nope

Lincoln did not want to end slavery. time to open a book, rak

i ain sayin that you never. i'm just sayin on this Q you are wrongo
Can you provide some evidence? "Whenever I hear any one arguing for slavery I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume VIII, "Speech to One Hundred Fortieth Indiana Regiment" (March 17, 1865), p. 361.

The United States of America viewed slaves as property until 1865. What part do you not understand? The part where Lincoln killed 600,000+ Americans over property?
No, people who owned slaves viewed them as property. Also, the south hadn't really "evolved" much by the 1960s during the civil rights movement. Probably a good number of them still haven't "evolved" .

1865 is ex post facto

Can you provide some evidence before the war it was his plan

his greatness was his adroitness, his taking advantage of the situation on the ground at the time to improve things in a radical way

my favorite Lincoln stories have to do with him trying to find a fighting general

when he got Grant he got saved and the nation too

what's funny is my GF is from Flowerdy Branch GA

go Falcoons!

Grant was from Ohio. Ohio won the war. the big northeast and all the city boys up there did squat. Ohio won the war. I'll say it again

Just because Grant was from Ohio does not mean Ohio won the war

"What I do say is, that no man is good enough to govern another man, without that other's consent. I say this is the leading principle - the sheet anchor of American republicanism." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume II, "Speech at Peoria, Illinois" (October 16, 1854), p. 266.

"I think slavery is wrong, morally, and politically. I desire that it should be no further spread in these United States, and I should not object if it should gradually terminate in the whole Union." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume III, "Speech at Cincinnati, Ohio" (September 17, 1859), p. 440.

From what I've seen Lincoln did want to end slavery, but not at that immediate time

Custer was from Ohio

After some contemplation, and some softball, I've decided that you are right. Lincoln was willing to kill his own people to keep the USA intact. He felt that was best for the country. It also kept him in power.

Like Saddam. I bet Saddam got his gameplan against the Kurds from Lincoln's playbook.
