The point is that you can send me all of the "stats" that you want. Kids in poor communities don't struggle because of school funding, they struggle because of their environment at home. I had a 6th grader tell me one time, "I don't have to do my work, I'll always receive a check." The only way that he could have had that mindset is if that is what he is hearing at home. Inner-city schools provide everything a child needs to learn.

When was the last time all of you actually talked to multiple low income students or people?

BTW Eqalizing education is NOT taking away personal responsibility. You still have to put in the work to actually graduate. It just means that everyone has a level playing field.
When I taught at a poor inner city school for 3 years. When was the last time you worked at an "underfunded" school?
I went to an underfunded school my whole life. My district recently won a federal court case saying that the state of Kansas did not give us enough money.

I think they both play a part. We need to fix both for sure, school funding would certaintly be a start. That child's mindset is disapointing and we need to fix it.

tang believes it is OK for people who cannot afford kids to have them anyway and then complains that those kids are not cared for properly. You honestly cannot make this stuff up.

#1) Graduate High School
#2) Don't become a single parent
#3) Get a job

Follow these three steps and you will not be poor.
I recently met people who followed your guidelines. Still poor. Went to Circles of Hope? Not poor.

I get to be allowed one illogical point. Strikeout has his abortions, I have my kids.

Impossible. How are they poor? Please explain. You are allowed to have whatever you like but you aren't helping these kids by coddling them.

They are poor because your steps don't always lead to being out of poverty.

I am not coddling anyone

They should unless the people are not motivated. Places like Home Depot, oil distributors, hospitals are always hiring. People need to be willing to work hard. You are coddling everyone from what I gather and then making excuses for them. America is the land of opportunity but history favors the bold. Sitting at home and watching TV does not help one get out of poverty. Maybe your group should make some connections with local employers and help these people attain well paying jobs? If they are not weighed down by kids and have a high school education or equivalent they should be able to find some solid jobs.
Making connections is huge, some don't have that. The issue isn't finding jobs per say, more finding GOOD jobs, jobs that will pay enough not to have to work two or more. These jobs are rare in today's society, and some just flat out stay in what we call 'survival mode', trying to get by day to day. Having a high school education is certainly important, but it is not the be all end all.

Trucking companies hire all the time and many will train the drivers. Maybe your organization needs to make some connections with employers and people who are looking? I listed several industries that are almost always hiring. All provide a decent wage with benefits and room for advancement.
We do.

CCCP was walking down the road. He sees a man standing next to his car, the tire apparently flat. A woman comes up behind the man, clearly pregnant. CCCP stops the car next to them and walks up to the man. The man had been driving his wife to give birth, and his tire went flat. CCCP got back into his car, saying things like, "I believe in personal responsibility." "Just change your tires and you will not get a flat." "There is no excuse."

False equivalency. Better one would be if he ran out of gas. I may leave him there and just drive his poor wife to the hospital.

tang, are you a fan of Michael Moore?
