Saw True Grit last night. Fantastic dialogue. Overall, just above average, though..
Just saw it - thought it was amazing. Certainly better than the John Wayne version.
I saw it Christmas night as well.  I agree that the dialogue was fantastic, but I also think the camera work (especially on the wide shots) was some of the best I have seen in a while.  The lighting on the night shots was fantastic as well.  I thought Damon's character was sort of poorly done but I would still say it was one of the top couple of movies on the year.
Thats because Matt Damon is not a good actor.

saw True Grit on friday - i thought it was fan-*******-tastic

Bridges was ridiculously good - the girl actor was damned near perfect - and Damon was very good (his character was SUPPOSED to be like that)
