POTSDAM (JP) — Powered by twin 17-point performances from Zachary Zubik and Arnold Trapani, Clarkson University posted its first win in two seasons, defeating McMurry, 50-48.

Coach jaredpaventi, in between shots of Jack Daniels, expressed confusion. “Wait. We beat them? How’s that possible? We don’t have a f**king center!” Apparently, the coach thought he booked Division III runner-up MacMurray for the exhibition date. Instead, he scheduled McMurry College. Located in Abilene, Texas, the American Southwest Conference squad posted a 6-21 record in Season 20.

Zubik keyed the win with a 10-15 performance from the free-throw line. Trapani pulled down a career-high nine rebounds and was 7-8 from the charity stripe. Clarkson’s 34 rebounds marked its highest total since Season 19 and was the first time in three years it outrebounded its opponent, posting a 34-27 margin.

Poor shooting continues to plague the Clark Bars, as they shot a meager 30.4 percent from the field. Leading the charge in the bricks column were shooting guard Joseph Bernard (1-8 from the field, 1-7 for three-pointers) and Zubik (3-11, including 1-8 for threes).

Before ordering another round of Jack, coach jaredpaventi remarked, “It’s a God Da**ed shame this one didn’t count.”

The 21st season of Clarkson basketball begins tonight at 2 a.m., when the Bars head to Pennsylvania for a matchup against No. 24-ranked Lycoming.

Right now, there are 3 openings. There is also a couple of ghost that are clearly ghost coaching, so when those accounts open up, who knows? There are also a couple that appear to be commited for a while. I'd love to add a bunch of good coaches over there.

if those guys join up plus possibly goodtymes & sigsoho i'd be down for moving from yeshiva when there's an opening down the line. .

what do you guys think about finding a conference in Crum thats low on coaches? for example, UAA over there has six openings. if we get treyomo, urdanick, tlsfn, goodtymes, sigsoho plus one more interested party (maybe dalter).... that fills the six empty spots..... then me and taz can move over as coaches drop out.... we'd have 8 top tier coaches in one conference within 2 or 3 seasons...

all six are available to be reserved. we could have the conference filled before the season even starts... and if coaches drop out, i'd be happy to move over this season.... i'm not too attached to yeshiva, i use them more for experimenting.

I'd be interested; it would be hard for me to leave ferrum for another school in crum, but after next season would make for the perfect break.

We could look at another world as well.

The CUNYAC in Smith would be a great conference. 7 open teams, and Vandy is in that conference, not sure if he would mind, but definitely would be a super conference.

I'd really like to be in an active D2 league in the future.

Now if you throw him into the mix, I am for sure there...where do I sign up?
3/8/2007 3:07 PM
the one thing with the CUNYAC (which is why we chose the upstate here) is that all 12 schools are within 20 miles of each other....
i dont mind it, but it will get a bit more bloody during recruiting.
i also sent a sitemail over to tlsfn to see if those guys are even interested.
my situation is that i'm already dropping Limestone (Allen) and if we do this I'd also drop Yeshiva (Crum). so lets figure something out. i'll let you guys know if i hear back from tlsfn.

i think the UAA in Crum would be the best..... schools are spread all over the place just like the Upstate. They have six openings, which we could all reserve in advance.... Me and taz could wait a season or two and take over as coaches leave (this would eliminate what happened to tlsfn here) since we already have teams in DIII crum and could just hop over during promotions... i know crispy's got a DIII dyanasty in crum as well... he might make it nine elite coaches in one conference, if he's interested.

I cant check out Naismith, Smith, Rupp, or Iba. Someone needs to scout out those world for possible conferences....

and we need to see if the Three Amigos are on board (tls, urd, and trey). we might be getting way ahead of ourselves...
