Notes and thoughts:

Tennessee is another good defensive team. Their principal source of consistent outside scoring is Richard Thompson, a key reserve. They play two PGs normally. Other than Thompson, their bench guys are considerably worse than their starters. Their big men don't shoot FTs particularly well, either (not that my starters do...). Maryland is also a bit deeper than the Vols, as UMD goes 10 deep and UT goes 9 deep.

Okay, I know my gameplan.

Both teams went uptempo, -2. We won in spite of terrible outside shooting.

Up next, Wyoming!

Oh well. Beaten fair and square. We went with a slowdown -2, to combat a deep team with a halfcourt press/zone. I expected Lee to take more shots.

Anyways, this was a great postseason for us.

Coach, that was a tough matchup for us. The guys did the best they could. We still had a great season, only 8 teams made it this far.

#25 PF, #101 overall, ****; no promises. William Noah is another developmental recruit. He won't be tremendously speedy or athletic, but he should do fine in those spots in the long run. All of his other position skills will get a quick boost, and he'll probably be starting as a sophomore.

Noah started as a freshman, and never got speedy or athletic. He was a solid player for me and could be a late NBA draft pick. I wouldn't expect that, though. While he didn't quite break 1000 points for me, he got close, and any player that starts all but one game in their career has to leave a bit of a void when they graduate.

#47 SF, unranked overall, **; promised the start. Another $120 special. Leroy Henry may cost me a game or two this year, but with my decision to cut Steve Davis, the non-rebounding sophomore PF, and Melvin Will being wrested from me by GW, I decided that I didn't have enough depth in the frontcourt for the season. I also didn't have enough money to sign anyone who would fit the bill...what I did have was a few SFs who'd responded favorably to an offer of a starting spot and who were only considering me. Of those, I think two were , and I liked Leroy Henry the best of them. He is an utter mystery to me but I suspect that if his potential was good, he would have been snatched up by a PAC 10 school. Maybe I'll get lucky here, but I doubt it. There's a chance I'll cut him after a year or two, but that would seriously damage my reputation. Either Henry or Fernandez will be my starting PF this season. it should be interesting. Maybe I'll sitemail the coach at University of Washington and ask him to let me know the potential so I can stick it up here...or he could just post it himself. I'll sitemail the coaches at UW, UWS, Oregon, and Oregon State, and Gonzaga.

Not terrible, but decidedly less than I would like. He'll be a backup after this season. I think he'll be playing the 3 and Fernandez will handle the 4 for this year.
Leroy Henry was a mistake. He did start for me as a freshman and quickly lost his place on the team once we brought in some talent. I guess he was an okay backup, but I could definitely have done much better. A very limited player. I would have cut him this year if he hadn't been a senior.
