Wouldn't that be cool if it were possible? Guys come back during the job hiring phase or something? lol

The only thing that will send me off the deep end now will be when 3 of the 4 go in the 2nd round so they can go play in the NBA developmental league

Anyone else think that they should add reasons for players to leave other than EE? Like, really remote chance that the kid gets killed in a car wreck or something.

Kentucky's PG Michael Porter opted not to come back for his final season because he had already earned his degree, was burnt out on ball, and had a newborn to think about. I think of other HS All-Americans like Rashaad Carruth and Jason Parker who basically just melted down and didn't play 4 years anywhere. Other guys get arrested and suspended from the school.

That sucks as far as depleting your roster, but it happens in real life... if they set the probabilities low enough, it could be kinda fun. Sort of like the old vets talk about "dilemmas" they use to have in the game.

Absolutely not - Just because it happens in real life does not mean it is good for HD.

By all means ...lets add another totally random event that does nothing but **** off the user it happened to. Sounds like fun ...and a good marketing tool! <sarc>

There is a very good reason they no longer exist.

I would like to thank Seble for his appearance here and his clarification of CS's position on this issue. While it is very obvious that EE's will only effect a minority of the overall customer base, they also effect the most vocal, longest-term users in the game... which is a very important minority to keep happy.

agreed mizzer, very much agreed.

seble, i know you cant hang out in the forums 24/7 and chitchat with us coaches every time we lose a player to EE (or lose a game we thought we should win, etc), BUT....

any time you have a few minutes to respond to any hotbutton issues that are popping up in the HD forum (like you have done here)... I think i speak for nearly 100% of the coaches when i say that we appreciate it very very much.

I assume that "HD4.0" (not sure if thats the right name,, but thats what i have been calling the big re-do) takes up a big majority of your time these days, and even though there will be an HD5.0 after that, we're hopefull that after the release, you might pop your head in here more often. i thnk you may have even said that you plan to do just that, come to think of it. by "blogging" on the topthread of the HD forum... right?

anyway, thanks.

if we seem like an ornery and cantankerous bunch, that probably just means we lost last night.

seble - if u are still monitoring this, here is a vote for EE's (in spite of my complete annoyment when it is my turn in the HD mean spirit bucket), I consider EE's to be a system of checks and balances, to counter recruiting that has gone haywire, you and I recently discussed one way recruiting can go bad (there are others), to a certain extent, right or wrong, true or false, black or white or shades of grey, EE's are a second line of defense to counter some inequities in the game's auction recruiting

Seble, this is technically true.

However, the enormity of the effect is incredibly significant. It can determine entire seasons and crumble programs. So there may be small issues that effect everyone, but this is a really bad issue that effects fewer users.

With the current early entry set-up, it very often comes down to dumb luck which teams are and are not legit NT contenders ... the ones that get lucky and don't lose anyone are set up to make deep runs, the ones who get unlucky are SOL.

I'm not for a system where luck plays such an enormous determining factor over which teams live and which die. That's crazy to me. The breadth of the problem may not be huge, but the depth is enormous.

It's something that needs to be looked at sooner rather than later. IMHO it's the single worst part about DI right now.
11/19/2009 6:30 PM
i think the breadth is pretty big. most everyone has played d1, or aspires to one day, and early entries effect all coaches there.

second this vote.
11/19/2009 7:45 PM
Yes EE's only affect a small percentage of users, BUT they affect the small % of users who spend the most money on HD and should be taken more seriously then the average second season D3 coach.

What was the one way you discussed OR? I'm disappointed I recently got confirmation that this update will not look at the geography of recruit placement. I've been talking about that for three years.

Tied to that is how sims recruit obviously and I still think FSS being mostly a local function magnifies an already major issue. Logic would say that those teams who FSS more players will have an advantage and those that FSS more players will have more players near them. At the BCS level that doesn't always mean more competition. In fact it may actually mean less depending on where you are. Maybe I'm making it into a mountain, but for me it's a deal-breaker. I think that if FSS doesn't change and geography of recruits don't change, the new engine change will not affect the number of humans playing. There will not be a rush to DI.

I also don't think it's too early to think about long-term direction. The game is still stuck in 2004 mode with allignment and "baseline prestige" (which I think was a horrible decision to begin with as opposed to having "evolving prestige" which is what occurs IRL and what occurs in HD DII and DIII). At what point is that mode rendered outdated?
