Canucks Thread - We Still Believe Topic

Paul, my thought is that it was the way Raymond hit the boards that injured him, not the force with which he did so, but I will concede that it's open for debate. That's just my view. No one can deny however that the Horton and Raymond plays are vastly different in every which way and thus should not be compared to one another.

juskay, if Bettman really wanted the Canucks to lose, they would have by now. That's all I'm going to say regarding the ridiculous conspiracy theories that have no basis in reality. I believe fans of any team use them when they refuse to admit that their team simply got beat.

The Canucks got beat in the 3 games in Boston, both physically and on the scoreboard. Period. The players on the ice were the sole reason that happened. And if the Canucks win tonight (which I hope they do), it will be because they beat the Bruins. If the Bruins win, it will be because they outplayed Vancouver. And if 50 million people tune in to watch, Bettman doesn't care who wins. Anyone with half a brain would realize that Gary Bettman's job is to make the NHL money, not to "screw" fans and players of any city or team.

Canucks 4, Bruins 2, with Jannik Hansen the unlikely hero getting a hat trick.

Conspiracy, reffing. Blah blah. Shut up and win. Just play hockey. Quit diving and whining. I don't know what's worse a summer of hearing about how amazing the Canucks are or a summer of whining about getting screwed by the man

Had to put up with that bs from flames fans in 04

The Horton injury and the Raymond injury couldn't be more different. The only thing the two plays have in common is that they both resulted in injuries. That's it.

Aaron Rome targeted Horton's head, which resulted in the injury. Horton was injured because of Rome hitting his head. Period. Case closed. I wouldn't have given Rome 4 games though. I think that was too much. 2 would have been sufficient.

Mason Raymond and Johnny Boychuk skated towards the corner as the puck was going there. The puck bounced off the boards and went towards the middle. Raymond then turned his body and looked down to find the puck, which put him skating backwards into the boards. At that point, both players' momentum threw them into the boards. Boychuk could have really driven Raymond into the boards, or at least pushed him in, and instead they both glided into the boards. Raymond's injury was caused by the way he hit the boards. It was caused by his body position, which he put himself in, not anything that Boychuk did.

I'm not picking on the Canucks by any stretch. This is just how I saw the plays develop. And to suggest there is a conspiracy against ANY team in the NHL is ridiculous. It's the same as some idiot claiming the world's going to end on May 26th or whatever it was. Cmon. Bettman or anyone else in the NHL's head office couldn't care less who wins the Cup as long as everyone in North America watches it happen. If the final was the Panthers vs. the Oilers and the Oilers won the Cup, but each game got 50 million viewers, Bettman would be the happiest guy on earth. He's a businessman, not satan.
I'll agree to disagree.  I don't think "gliding" into the boards would provide enough force to fracture a vertebrea.  This is the type of injury you see in car accidents with speeds of 50km/hr plus or a fall from 3 stories.
Thanks Bill Nye.

NHL went overboard with the Rome suspension and as a result boychuk should have been suspended. But they messed up on the burrows suspension too.

And face it. If Vancouver didn't spend half the playoffs embellishing and faking injuries maybe boychuk would be suspended and the refs would have called the penalty.

A detailed look back at game seven, which due to a scheduling error had to be published twelve hours early:

Is it possible to not get any bounces, breaks or calls for 7 games?  You would think something has to go the Canucks way eventually.
No breaks? lets try 18 seconds left game 1, or how about puck finding Burrows stick in OT game 2? seems to me Canucks have had more than their fair share of "breaks"  Interesting fact, the Canucks have led for a grand total of less than two periods throughout this entire series.

Those were both skill plays, not breaks.

Breaks are guys sticks breaking resulting in goals, pucks deflecting in off of bodies (amazing that this hasn't happened considering the number of times Bruins have had the puck hit them in front of Thomas) or fortuitous bounces.

Can this continue go the Bruins way for a seventh game?
What a load of crap!  You got into the finals based almost entirely on lucky breaks!  Every time I looked at the TV the Canucks were getting a lucky bounce off an *** straight to a wide open player.  They beat the Predators on a puck that took a bounce off the plexiglass that nobody on the ice saw except for Bieksa and it bounced straight to him with a wide open path to an open net!  Consider your "lucky breaks"     all      used      up     !

BY the way,  thanks for the lecture on what a "lucky break"  is versus a "skill play"  What would we ever do without you?  You do realize that when the world voted the Vancouver Canucks to be the most despised team, they were actually referring to the fans and not the team?  That probably just blew right over your head didn't it?

very true.  If Calgary had just pushed a little harder and made the "phantom" goal in game 6 not matter, then the whining Flames fans would have had nothing to ***** about.

6/15/2011 5:23 PM
Oh...and I just wanted to remind all you Canuck fans that even if you do win tonight,  you'll still be behind the Flames in your all-time Stanley Cup Finals record

Calgary 8 wins 10 losses and 1 cup

Vancouver 7 wins 11 losses and 1 cup

remember...thats if Vancouver wins....

Wait wait wait...I have another question.  What will the Canucks do with the half of their team looming into free agency if they win the Cup?  Since we all know they have egos as inflated as their fan base, obviously they will all expect to be compensated with respect to having been so directly responsible for winning a Stanley Cup with a team that has never tasted success before?  Since Bieksa will undoubtedly believe he is worth more than any other defenseman in the league,  how much will he command? 7 mill?  8 mill?  Surely some American team with deep pockets will try to make his dreams come true?  especially since we all know that the superstar tandem of Sedins did not carry this team on their shoulders?  Lets see, every player on the roster that is RFA or UFA will be seeking at least 2 mill?  Isn't this what so many Canucks fans were gloating about with the Hawks last year when so many of them sought huge raises after hoisting the cup.  Wow, lots to think about in Vancouver.....

Amazing that only Canuck fans are calling the play dirty, when it clearly wasn't.  What makes it funny is that these are the same drips who defend thugs like Torres, Hamhuis and Bieksa each and every time they play dirty.  Of course, they defend a biting hair-puller too.

Vancouver is gonna lose and lose big tomorrow night.
Care to be a cab driver??  Think Twice if any Black  Hawk players are waiting to catch a CAB???  Hair pulling will be the least of your worries???
I'll answer that when someone who speaks English translates it for me.

This is why the Hawks won their Cup in 6 games...the whining gets insane before game 7.  Christ, the Canucks must have had about 6 horseshoes jammed up each Sedin sisters's bumholes to account for all the breaks they've gotten.

I can't believe any player with a heart would get caught diving in the Finals.  Toews would never pull such nonsense.  But then, he has heart.

I'm seriously thinking of taking Butkus out of retirement for tonight.  toddcommish can tell you what my dead dog can do to your hockey team.

So I was drunk when I typed it?  Sue me!!  What I said was........Your team has a punk who beats up cab drivers who are old and helpless over .10 cents change??  I would rather have a hair puller on my team.

Yes we will trade all those future problem's with cap etc. for the cup?
