Just an aside to the idiot rioters, today my wife went out here in the Comox Valley to get some groceries and just took out enough money to get what she needed.  I was back home with the kids.  At the store, she was literally acosted by several Canuck fans trying to collect donations "for the homeless" on behalf of the Canucks.  There were no signs so maybe they were, maybe they weren't.  My wife tried to get around them to get to her car but they wouldn't let her by.  When she told them to leave her alone or she would call the cops, they started cat-calling her and calling her all kinds of names.  She finally just ran past them holding one bag while dropping the other.  Lucky I wasn't there, or this old man would have probably ended up in the hospital (again).  (I just got out on friday because I needed a blood transfusion when it was discovered I was only half full of blood - red, white, and platelets.  Doctors are concerned I either have a severe internal bleed, or worst case scenario, bone marrow cancer)  Raucous, I'll need to have another conversation with you about that.
Just so you all know, my wife is a Canucks fan. She grew up in Vancouver, which obviously makes the hockey rivalry in our household quite interesting.

That is horrible news all around.

just saw some really raw footage from Vancouver a local reporter linked to. It isn't the hockey fans that are burning down Vancouver. Bunch of street punks with their faces covered like they're the PLO or something, having their pics taken in front of burning wreckage.

The hockey fans were obviously the ones trying to get the hell out of there, or shaking their heads in disbelief. Looks like Vancouver has a problem that most other cities have, the side they don't want the tourists to see.

Maybe Luongo will pick up the tab for the damages.

Condolences to all the Canuck fans...that must have been a tough game and subsequent tough night to go through.

Randle, all the best buddy. Hope everything turns out ok.

Good luck next season boys. Perhaps we'll be treated to another classic Canucks/Hawks series. Hey, maybe we can convince Mr. Tallon in Florida to take both Luongo and Campbell!

Next up the entry draft....Then free agency on July 1st.  Canucks still have three lines on paper..  Sedin......Sedin......Burrows
                                                                                                                                                     Raymond..Kesler..Samuelsson
                                                                                                                                                     Lapierre (rfa)..Malholtra..Hansen (rfa)
                                                                                                                                                     Oreskovich (rfa)....?????...Hodgson
Gone are Higgins, Torres, Glass J Tambellini.  Possibly Higgins gets an offer to stay but these guys can be replaced through free agency trades etc.

Biggest challenge for Gillis is on defence?  Signed are Hamhuis-Ballard-Tanev-Rome-Edler.........Gone are Salo-Bieksa-Ehrhart-Alberts which frees up 11.5 million in cap hit.  Bieksa should be offered Hamhuis type money 5 mil/per and may resign.  Ballard seems like a waste of 4.5 mil/per but he may be motivated because he has something to prove which is much like Alberts at the end of last season.  Look for the Canucks to make a big play to go after a top d man like a Shea Weber etc....

This team will be back and will contend again next season.  I would love to move Luongo, but no one will take him.  He is the biggest cap/hit problem on the team.  Maybe Gillis can work some magic and unload this guy.  The fun starts July 1st 2011.  See if Bieksa's right's get traded before the !st, would not surprise me if the Leafs make a play for him, I am hearing the Red Wings are very interested too.

Dream about weber juskay but he is going to cost huge money as I believe nashville is planning on matching any offer. If any team noticed how Bieksa wussed out in the finals after beating up non fighters they won't pay the money your talking about. Talk about going from the toast of the playoffs to total non factor when it mattered

Pretty unfair assessment on Bieksa.....We lost Hamhuis and Rome early in the series, and the other 4, Bieksa, Edler, Alberts and Ehrhart were left to play too many minutes plus they all had minor injuries.  They all looked pretty ordinary and obviously it was because they were way overworked.  Nice try to get a shot in though.  Your top 4 d-men are all working on their handicaps.

As for Weber.......That was an example, but I would not be surprised if the Canuck's make a play for him......via trade route and not an offer sheet.  Remeber Weber signs an offer sheet Preds match and Weber is stuck in Nashville.  But if Weber holds out he will get a one year deal, and be a UFA next summer free to go where ever.  And I know that he would love to play in Vancouver.....So Nashville may work out a trade instead of losing him next summer for nothing.................Early July we will know???

Weber is going to get a Duncan Keith deal.  I'd do the same thing if I were Nashville.
