yeah - I missed that. Its nice having 4 solid starters in the playoffs but only necessary to have 3 imo. Thats what made Davies expendable.


Kobayashi single handedly gave that WS to vd last season. He blows every big game he plays in (at least for me) - unlike Morrie. I was getting sick of dealing with it. I hope he pans out for you. If he does you have an awesome team with no deficiencies.

Reasonable trade, but I think it leans toward robot unless Moy is conceding this season

I think I'll wind up having the best pitching staff, rotation and bullpen, in the NL... I might be a bat behind those NL North three.

But I don't know where I can go to get that last piece... anyone have a top bat available? Catcher or a 2B/3B...

the trade helps out bots team tremendously with the pitching help. He had hitters to replace Diaz and his pitching is now one of tops in the league.

I figure I have 5 SPs all pitching under 3.90 ERAs and I tried to get value back for Kobayashi earlier in the season (to no avail). Since I have one hitter over .300 it was time to make a change. poor Davies was only 5-5 this season cause of the lack of hitting. Pairing the chinaman up with Davies (who I would have shopped at age 32 next season anyways to get some prospects in return) could get me more hitting and defensive upgrades. 23 yr old Diaz will replace the schmuck I have at RF. The other dude will get called up closer to the 40 man roster most likely to play 2B for the schmuck playing there. The RP was just so I don't have to get garbage off FA. I also reduced next seasons payroll so I can sign bottenfield and spoljaric. I'm not conceding the season - I'm just going to have to rely on Ross, Wells, and Spoljaric more. 'If' my hitting picks up the SOPs can beat anyone in a 7 game series with those three pitchers.

conceding was too strong a term, but perhaps i should say the trade didnt clearly upgrade your team toward a run this season - i understand your thinking ahead toward the future

vd - I agree that it did not upgrade my team this season - unless it gets the bats going - but still, Its not a clear upgrade. Losing Davies will hurt. I'm not concerned about losing Kobayashi. Just look at his career playoff stats. Diaz still hasn't shown statistically that he can be a superstar either (which is concerning).

...and yet the slores have no talent (other than Leonard) in the line-up and hit just fine.

I don't think you've ever looked at another team's roster. My guess is you're just saying this under the belief that yours is better.

I feel like everyone on my team is way too streaky and generally not hitting expectations, but robusk would say it's because we're doing this wrong.

It's balancing out - there's no reason your $ lineup should be as good as it has been.
