Game 121: The Spectres get three scoreless innings from the bullpen, capped by a dominant performance from Rick Aguilera, who strikes out all three batters he faces in the bottom of the ninth, and scratches up just enough offense to win, 3-2. Alex Fernandez improves to 14-7.
Game 122: Mark Langston throws a complete game four-hitter while Chuck Finley has another early exit (2IP, 6R). Cosmos win, 6-1.
Game 123: Eddie Murray reaches 100 RBI for the season, but Ken Griffey Jr. and Ron Karkovice combine to strand 13 baserunners and the Cosmos pull out a late win with a four-run eighth, 5-4.
Montreal will finish this round of divisonal play with a visit from first place Philadelphia (81-42).
2/1/2008 5:59 AM
Game 124: One game after stranding seven baserunners, Ken Griffey Jr. reaches base five times and the Spectres outlast the Keystones, 9-8, in the opening game of their series. Brady Anderson blasts his sixth home run and Brett Boone returns to the lineup with a two-run double.
Game 125: Alex Fernandez tosses a three-hitter and the Spectres roll to an 8-2 win over Philly. Ken Griffey Jr. strands six more baserunners but it doesn't even matter. Jay Buhner drives home three and Greg Gagne two.
Game 126: Montreal can't finish off the sweep; Joey Cora hits two triples for Philly, scoring each time, and Rick Wilkins and Kirby Puckett each hits a two-run home run to beat Chuck Finley, 8-3.
Montreal travels to Houston to face the Lone Stars.

Is this the Centennial league you mentioned? Ceez sitemailed me, said there may be an opening. Said he'd drop me a line when he gets back from his LA debauchery for the SB.

Game 127: The ageless Fernando Valenzuela is brilliant, allowing only five hits and no walks in 6.2 innings, leading Houston to a 5-2 win over Scott Erickson (5-13) and the Spectres.
Game 128: Ken Griffey Jr. drives home three runs to reach 97 for the season, and the Spectre bullpen allows only one tally in five innings as Montreal defeats Houston 7-3.
Game 129: The Houston bullpen throws 3.1 scoreless innings; Montreal's pen cannot quite match that mark. Houston scores twice in the eighth to score a 3-1 win in the series finale.
Montreal returns home to host Cincinnati.
2/3/2008 6:15 AM
Game 130: Eddie Murray blasts a three-run double in the first inning and the Spectres survive a shaky ninth inning by Rick Aguilera for a 5-4 win. Chuck Finley wins his 13th game with eight strong innings.
Game 131: Montreal scores only by the grace of two Stinger errors; Scott Erickson turns in his usual subpar performance and Cincy wins, 5-3.
Game 132: Stinger Charlie Hough adds to his lifetime win total against the Spectres as Montreal's bullpen collapses late in a 5-2 decision. Scott Sanders takes the loss with some help from Willie Blair. Hough gets his 10th win for Cincy.
Montreal hosts the Chicago Bootleggers next.
2/4/2008 6:03 AM
Game 133: Montreal rallies for two runs in the bottom of the ninth to steal a 3-2 win from the Bootleggers. Ken Caminiti starts things off with an RBI double to score Greg Gagne and Brady Anderson finishes it with a two-out single to bring home Caminiti. Scott Sanders gets the win in relief, evening his record at 5-5.
Game 134: Eddie Murray blasts a three-run homer in the first, Jay Buhner adds a three-run dinger in the third, and the Spectres are seemingly on their way to another victory with Chuck Finley dominating the Bootleggers. Finley leaves after seven, however, and Scott Sanders can't get out of the eighth. Chicago puts six on the board in that frame and sends the game to extra innings. Things are quiet until the 13th, when, with mopup man Joe Hesketh on the mound, Chicago scores four times. Montreal cannot answer and loses 11-7.
Game 135: Eddie Murray homers to lead off the bottom of the eighth, snapping a 3-3 tie. Ron Karkovice later singles home an insurance run that Rick Aguilera doesn't need as the Spectres take the series. Scott Erickson gets a rare win, his sixth of the season, and Aguilera has 32 saves.
Montreal heads to the West Coast for a series with San Diego.
2/5/2008 5:48 AM
Game 136: Bob Wickman "scatters" 10 hits over six innings and picks up his seventh win as the Spectres score in each of the first four innings on the way to a 6-2 decision over San Diego.
Game 137: Jay Buhner homers twice, reaching 96 RBI, and Alex Fernandez throws seven strong innings to get his 16th win as the Spectres triumph, 8-1.
Game 138: Ken Griffey Jr. has four hits, including three home runs, and drives home five runs, breaking the century mark, as the Spectres sweep San Diego with a 10-3 win. Chuck Finley goes the distance for his 14th victory.
St. Louis (82-56) will visit Montreal next.
2/6/2008 6:06 AM
Game 139: St. Louis has their way with an assortment of Montreal pitchers, getting four RBI from three different players on the way to a 22-1 victory. Jose Rijo's 14-strikeout performance seems almost superfluous.
Game 140: Greg Maddux pitches a three-hitter; Joe Hesketh gets more garbage innings; St. Louis dominates Montreal again, 10-1.
Game 141: The Spectres are no match for the Blue Storm pitching staff. Another brilliant performance, this one from Dennis Martinez, and St. Louis has another big win, 7-0 over the Spectres.
Montreal heads to Atlanta to face the Tomahawks.
2/7/2008 5:27 AM
Game 142: Jay Buhner hits a home run and a double, driving in four and reaching 100 RBI for the season, as the Spectres defeat Atlanta 10-5. Chuck Finley strikes out eight and earns his 15th victory.
Game 143: Tony Phillips has four hits and four runs as the Spectres provide Scott Erickson with some rare run support in a 12-4 win over Atlanta. Erickson improves to 7-15. It's Montreal's 63rd win of the season, ensuring that a 100-loss season will be avoided.
Game 144: Atlanta explodes for six runs in the sixth, and young Kevin Brown gets his 14th win over Montreal, 8-2.
Montreal hosts San Francisco next.
