As long as I think we've not been too harsh in our voting considerations. We had a small flood of HOFers at the start. Four guys with 60+ indicates to me that they're similar enough that the voting is spread out among them, no one is a slamdunk. And we all know the real big FPs are going to come in starting with the season 9 voting.
I could see letting the top guy in, but I'm leaning towards, make him go through the votes again.

I think we need 100% participation. Let's make this happen guys...makes it more fun if we all vote instead of establishing new criteria.

In case of less than say, 75% participation by the managers, then I say let the top vote-getter into the HoF

I agree. We really need everyone to vote for season 8 because it's going to be a lot more difficult for regular guys to get in with the FP retirements from season 9.

Ok... I just sent a personal note to all 7 MIA - with the full voting poll list included in the sitemail. So let's hope for more HOF tickets.

I'm fine with it if no one gets in this season. As I noted earlier, obviously they're a very even bunch and the voting is split. Maybe their stats will look better over time. It does happen in baseball occasionally that no one gets in during a given year.

Good point damag, but I think it's not so cool doing all the work on the HOF voting without any entry - making it a rule the best ranked one would enter, we will always have at least one new guy in the HOF.
But perhaps this is an odd voting season? Hopefully we will not have such a split decision when we vote on all the FP's at once.
Btw, I've got 4 more GM votes now, so we have 21 in. But it's still a problem, since the best one currently has 70%.

Good and bad new on HOF voting season 8. We have 22 voting tickets, and that's excellent, but the leader of the pack is stuck @ 71,43%...

22 GMs voted, that's sweet! Hard luck for Mr. Leading Vote getter guy.
Hey.....that sounds like one of those Bud Light Real Men of Genius radio ads.

I would prefer we do not lower our HoF standards ... that is how we end up with RL debates where someone says "Well that borderline candidate got in so that means this borderline candidate deserves to get in".
Keeping the standards high means the HoF actually means something.

I hear you smeric... yeah even if all the voting this time is for nothing, I agree that the HOF'ers should be something special. Keeping a hard limit on 75% should make sure of that. I will post the final voting results soon (23 GMs votes in) and plan on getting the season 9 voting started this weekend.

I wouldn't say it's for nothing. I voted for two candidates from previous seasons... their credentials looked even better to me than before when compared to newer candidates, even when I accounted for the fact that they probably piled up stats in the first few seasons. Other players may benefit similarly in future.

True that damag, the ones with votes will be back for more seasonal voting, and could make it later on.

Will we have a veterans committee, to give the people passed over a second chance, sometime later?
