NCIH $52M Draft League XXXIII - League Finished Topic

proxy sent to the two who select after me & our esteemed commish.

Just to be clear I am swapping all my picks from the 3rd round on. For some unknown reason i thought I was drafting for my 2nd team when I picked Mookie. There is no way I wanted to pair Payton and Mookie together. So I had asked to just switch my two 3rd round picks to my other teams but I was told I could not do that so to make it even fairer I decided to swap all of my picks from the 3rd round on, just like every other owner who swaps picks in this league does. I do apologize for the confusion, it is the first time I have gotten screwed up. I should make it a point to put my teams together in the draft so this BS does not happen again. Nonetheless it's on with the draft. I'll make my pick in a minute.

i believe you because i immediately thought the same thing when adding players names to the rosters page... "mookie and payton?" i didn't think it was a new fangled attempt to corner two pg's and take them off the board... thought it was a team 1 vs. team 2 mistake. still, the mookie - payton experiment will be interesting.

They won't be together though. The trade is Mookie and the rest of team 1's picks for Mourning and the rest of Team 2's picks.

oh? i'll make the changes on the rosters page. i think i understand what is being exchanged.

98 - maybe it would be a good idea when you make your selections you include, team 1 or team 2 after the player's name.  Andrei Kirilenko - team 1.

Your right scud, I'll definitely do that in the future.

Well, Mookie & Payton together would have given you three things:

Great defense
Great fg% increase for the rest of your team
TONS of terrible shots

I think you should have kept it!

I disagree with the 98 situation based on the fact every draft I have been in the rule is once posted that is your pick. I am not saying it was not an honest mistake however like I said the rule as I understand it is posted is the law so to speak. It could open up other arguments if somebody makes a mistake.

Even though I loathe the guy, he does keep two teams in the league season after season... and I'm not exactly afraid of either team being better because of this trade.  If this was two separate owners making the trade, I wouldn't object.

OK...I'm kinda of two different minds on this. Like everyone else I trust 98average and don't think there's any shady business going on here. I just don't think we should make a habit of letting owners rectify "mistakes" they happen to make. If I accidentally post the wrong pick I have no expectation that I can sitemail the commish and ask him to let me change it to a different guy...should that change because a guy has multiple picks?

Just to clarify, I completely understand what happened to 98average, and have no real problem with it. It didn't really hurt anyone (unless you count someone who wouldve taken Mookie in between 98's picks - and I think people in that range who legitimately wanted Mookie would be justified in being upset about this). But it is not a good precedent to set (to allow people to fix mistakes in this fashion) and if it's allowed to stand (which the majority of the league seems to be leaning towards) it needs to be explicitly clarified that this is a one-time thing.

I would have preferred if 98 has just explained why he wanted to make a trade.. and seen if anyone else besides himself would trade with him before this was done.

when you're on the clock, perhaps that's hard to do...

It doesn't affect my team, so I could care less about the situation. Sometimes drafting for two teams and trying to draft quickly can have these results, so it happens, one time thing like mentioned above.

On the clock?

The mistaken mookie pick was made 30 hours before this trade went down. Plenty of time to say "hey guys I messed up does anyone want mookie for a trade in draft spots coming up."

Anyway, I am ok with it either way, I just think there were other options besides this self-trade.
