I set up a pseudo-systematic system of weighted scoring to assess the relative value of each player on my 12-man draft board.  Of course the guy I mostly want to select in the third round came out dead last.  What to do?  Follow my head, or my heart?

I know we're ahead of schedule but for some reason this draft just seems to drag on and on

Beyond the third round is where we (or at least I) will start to feel the pain of the not-quite-high-enough cap.  I've now spent half my available dough on three players.  With those three dudes I've taken care of usage, assists, FTAs and 3s for my starting lineup, with good defense all around and a start on boards.  But I'm going to be pinching pennies the rest of the way, looking for bargain players that do one thing well to fill in gaps.

Ltb- that's the whole point (to me at least) of 50M.

There is so much depth in the league that keeping it somewhat constrained (but looser than the ODL) allows "role players" to still have a place in this league.

As it is, having 5+ versions of Lebron, Wilt, Howard, Rodman and Stockton means multiple teams will look similar. The cap at least allows people to go their own way in the end and creates a real conundrum to how much to spend on your top 5 or 7.

Example: Last season I was faced with (unnamed) in the 5th at a high salary (normally goes in first 2 rounds of other draft lgs). I couldn't resist, took him, weakened my bench and he wasn't a great fit anyway.

Certainly a completely unlimited cap, "Build the cookie team" league is also a fun concept, whether via a draft or simply a normal theme league which has been done before. There, you can fill out your studs to your hearts content

I'd be curious to see what would happen if we expanded the exclusive seasons drafted from 7 to 10 or even 12.

Wonder how much trouble teams would cause themselves in a 50 mill cap then.

Are we skipping on the clock drafting on Sunday for some reason?

There just isn't enough salary to do more than 7 for 50 mil cap, in my opinion. If we really want people to have some freedom while trying 10+ exclusive season pick, I seriously think that salary cap needs to be raised. Otherwise, most people won't feel it to be worth the trouble to pour over names and numbers to draft sub $300,000 scrubs for multiple picks.
