9 Pirates Willie Stargell
Ermocito (1)

I could make later picks for Nationals & Dodgers (due Tues/Wed) but I can't make earlier ones for Astros & Mets.

My initial thoughts suggest the earlier ones impact the later ones but I might talk myself out of that...
Willie Stargell was already taken in rd 8
Some strange thing happened. Either I never actually posted my rd 8 Pirates Willie Stargell pick, or I accidentally deleted it.

My chewyy3344(2) team took Albert Belle in rd 7 Cleveland, and Willie Stargell in rd 8 Pirates.

I had sent Vilefileman a quick SM to update where we were. Just so everyone knows what to expect he says:

”Be back tomorrow evening and will catch up.”

Man I have a LONG time to wait to make my picks, while others are doing round 13. And I was upset with myself for slowing down the draft for the first day. I see this as a BIG disadvantage having two teams and some players I may want may be gone before I can try and catch up. Will NEVER go with 2 teams again. vilefileman is going to be making 8 picks

I feel it is a BIG advantage to wait like vilefileman is doing because you can see what spots u have to fill and might be able say go after a stud SS in his 9th round instead taking a SS one in 6th round if u know he will still be there as an example. I thought about doing that but wouldn't feel fight to draft that way un fair to players waiting to draft behind me Just my thought. I am totally all for trying to speed this up as much as fairly possible, but difference of 5 or 6 rounds is a big advantage in my opinion. If I was with just one team entered it would not be as much a problem. Oh well I am stuck with nothing to do about it PLAY ON!

We are on vacation (planned before this draft was up and running).

Doing the best we can.

I don’t disagree with previous observations.

If you look back several teams made 4-5 picks at once, including a team’s first 5 picks.

In future drafts perhaps we stick to the draft windows that were setup.

That would eliminate the perceived advantages.

Something people should mull about a v5 franchise draft is whether we want to accelerate the drafting even more.

v1 and v2 did every pick from a single team on a day, with very short windows. It took 24 days, but was also 24 days of fun.
v3 is where we switched to doing a round per day instead of a pick per day. Longer windows, and it sped up quite a bit.
There was discussion near the end of that draft on "how fast do we want to be" where some expressed concern about going more than 2 per day.
Based on that, it was set up as twice per day, limiting the length to 12 days.
Right now we are solidly ahead of schedule, but we have people racing by several rounds. Much faster than in v1 v2 v3.
I think it is awesome, but would not begrudge anyone for sticking with the posted schedule (which does have benefits).

Looking forward, what if future versions did r1 r2 on day one, but accelerated to shorter 2-3 hour windows (not overnight) starting on day 2? I feel like that's the pattern that many of us are choosing anyway. There was a LOT more activity yesterday than on Friday. Maybe that's because more people have free time on Saturday, or maybe it is because the initial picks take more thought and after a certain point there is natural acceleration.

Or maybe the weekend days should accelerate but the weekdays should keep with bigger blocks because many people need to focus on jobs?

I definitely agree that handling two teams is a lot more work. But it could have taken another month for the draft to start if we needed to find 3 more unique owners. I am going to set up the v5 sign up very quickly after v4 games begin, but probably with a delayed draft date (in case we find more owners before the v4 season ends). I think the ideal version is 24 unique owners, and letting the randomization help make sure each experience is different.
