Washington & Lee Season 24 recruiting analysis
Lexington, Va -- Washington & Lee, one year removed from a #2 ranked recruiting class, failed in their attempt to make the CI Top 32 recruiting list for the second year in a row. However, an insider at CI headquarters has indicated to officials at Washington & Lee that they were able to grab the #33 spot. A look at the 3 newest Generals:
Derek "If it smells like baloney, leave it" Maloney, Atlantic City, NJ -- Maloney, a 6"10, 246 lb C out of Altantic City High School becomes only the third New Jersey native to venture south to play for coach whunt1. A 456-rated C, Maloney became the first signee for Washington & Lee during season 24 recruiting. An athletic big man (36 speed/ath), Maloney's AC High School squad ran a motion offense similar to the one employed at W&L. Maloney is a solid rebounder (65) and uses his athleticism to get after shots on the defensive end (64 shot blocking) . However, he's still very raw (48 LP) on the offensive end. He will use his redshirt season to get used to the Generals fullcourt press D while honing his offensive skills & free throw shooting.
Zachary "The Dentist" Toothman, Wolf Point, MT --
Having successfully recruited Lee Houston from the Treasure State, the Generals went to Montana hoping to grab another star player in the 6'2" 476-rated SG. Toothman could use a redshirt year as he becomes the 5th SG on the W&L roster. However, he should move ahead of senior and little utilized David " The Animal" Battista as soon as he learns a little more of the offensive and defensive sets. A good defender, Toothman has lots of room to grow (58 Per, 52 BH, 52 Pa) as he seeks to become the 5th whunt1 recruited SG to garner 1st-team All-conference selections.
Robert "One Bad Mother" Stucker, Due West, SC --
Robert Stucker, a 6"8" 234 lb SF from Dixie High School comes to Washington & Lee as a 476-SF well versed in the motion offense. His speed and athleticism (57/44) at his position should eventually allow him to be a better defender in the Press D than the man-to-man system he played in high school. Stucker could also use a year to redshirt, but whunt1's desire to get some rebounding back to the SF position lead him to Stucker and is likely the reason that this bad mother stucker will eventually gain some valuable PT as a true freshman.

Bethany Season 24 Recruiting
My one and only recruit is Michael "The rain is Spain falls mainly on the plains" Haines - the SF from Boston H.S. in none other than Boston, Mass. He is 6'-6" and 201 lbs. and I basically picked him because he has a 50 DEF rating.

Looks like 4 would be tourney bound if the season ended today and 3 are borderline with some wins. I'd include E&H and Bridgewater if they can lower their RPIs.
NT: Guilford, Eastern Mennonite, Virginia Wesleyan
PI: Washington & Lee
Barely Out: Lynchburg, Bethany, Washington & Jefferson
Needs a long winning streak: Bridgewater, Emory & Henry

Conference play is certainly the toughest part of the schedule. It will be interesting to see who actually makes it in. It would be nice to finally get some post season play for Virginia Wesleyan.
