i agree with ennam, i third (if still needed) his proposal to make no more rule changes at this time. I dont like this proposal as to the rookie draft going forward to other seasons either, for basically the same reasons ennam stated.

I like the creativity but don't like the idea - this is all about "re-writing" history. Some teams are doomed to the basement if they can't re-write things by getting one of their stars they had in later years earlier in their career to see what would happen.

While I definitely agree that we need to table all discussion of any kind on any rule changes until we get season 1 up and running I think Dave's idea might possibly have some merit.

After season 1 is up and running I would like for everyone to look at what having a rule that if a player played a certain number of seasons at the beginning of his career with 1 club that that club could give up a first rounder for his rights and then the rest of the draft be open. I haven't done enough research yet by any means to see if the rule would help/hurt the league.

For example let's use the Dodgers. As it stands right now unless ennam just flat out tanks games more than likely he will win enough games that in the 1973 draft he loses both Cey and Lopes. Although this is a Re write history league I'm not sure that having a player for his entire career for one club is the best way to make him an exclusive. In the Dodgers case If you made the rule first 10 years with a club. Before the draft ennam declares his 1st rounder for Cey and he keeps him. If not he's fair game to anyone. Make it 7 years and if ennam can trade for a second 1st rounder he can keep them both. Would opening up all the players who didn't play 7 or 10 years with one club to everyone balance out the weaker teams? For example in this 1972 rookie draft I think everyone would agree that Carlton Fisk is one of the top 5 players yet the earliest he could be drafted is at 18 barring a trade.

I am NOT saying that we should make a change. I am NOT saying we shouldn't. I am saying lets get season 1 up and running, let all the guys who have never played in a progressive league before realize that they are not the only ones scratching for talent. Everyone take a close look and see if the way I designed this league is the best way to do it ot if we need to amke some modifications along the way. If everyone looks at it it calmly and rationally. Makes there points pro and con I think we will end up with a really great league and a role model for other leagues to follow. I don't think any one has had the time or has the time at this point to do that. Thanks-The Commish

i like larry giving the lists...and certainly am looking forward to this league so i sure dont want to abort it by any means. Some people may do the research themselves, but i'm sure a lot of us dont have the time to accurately research everything themselves. If you catch something that larry missed, more power to you, but in general i feel like his lists make it fair to all those involved. Just my thoughts.

We can propose rule changes AFTER the season gets started for NEXT years rookie draft but lets stop and lets finish the draft first. We have been much slower the last 2 days with people picking players already selected and now with discussion of rule changes. The rules read on how a rookie is going to be elgible based on the WIS search and that should be final. Lets finish picking, start playing ball and then have these discussions after league play has started....

There have been several complaints about my using the WIS search engine and especially by ennam and I've just had enough. If you want to take over the league do it I will step out. But if I am staying on as commissioner we will continue to use the WIS search engine...period. FOr newbies and oldies, please remember that any league evolves after the first season. But in order to evolve there must be rules we all play with to begin with. THe rules were clear when we started. We made a few tweaks along the way. BUT until we are through the process we will never know how this will play out. Once the league begins playing games, there will be plenty of opportunity to voice changes. THat has been the history of every GM style league on WIS.

THat said can we get back to drafting real players to play fake ball as we pretend to re-write history.

Its my draft time, but i'll wait until then end of the half hour window to allow the teams that are behind an opportunity to make their picks.

ennam for the last time We are not talking about a rules change. We are talking about determining a players eligibility. I started before the league started that eligibility would be determined by the Wis search engine....and why I did it that way. I stated before the draft that eligibility would be determined by the WIS search engine...and why. When you and I argued about the topic during the draft I stated that eligibility would be determined by the WIS search engine and why. If you say that is unfair fine Take over the league and run it your way. I have offered to step down and let you run the league any way you like. In my opinion the ONLY way to switch determining eligibility from the WIS search engine to the baseball-reference search engine would be to go back to square 1 and restart the draft using baseball-reference instead of WIS. I am way too tired to do that. To have part of the league determined by WIS and part of it by baseball-reference makes no sense to me whatever and I WILL NOT be a part of that so please, please. Take me up on my offer to do things your way or drop it. This issue needs to be resovled right nowbefore the league falls completely apart so ennam Make your decision. Can you live with the way eligibility is determined or do you want to take over the league?
