One big problem in this whole political witchhunt is that even if the witches are real (and they probably are), we don't honestly know where to look for them.
Let's be frank. Trump is not an effective leader. He has a very unilateral approach to everything. Every thing he promised that was purely his idea has gone nowhere. Every kneejerk reaction he has has resulted in nothing. His initiatives all get shot down in the legislature or the courts since his idea of governance is that the American people elected him as the chief executive so everybody should recognize the people want the government to do whatever he wants. He hasn't shown any ability whatsoever to cooperate with his own party, much less across the aisle, to move his personal political agenda forward. So what about this makes anybody think that Trump personally brokered a deal with people in Russia to rig the election in exchange for some pro-Russian concessions from the US government? You have to admit that this doesn't fit in at all with how we've seen Trump doing business domestically.
At this point I don't think we have a clear picture of who's pulling the strings on this. I doubt it's Pence. Certainly could be Sessions, Preibus, Conway, Bannon, ?. Somebody is probably guilty. I can see why the Russians would spontaneously try to influence the elections away Hillary given the hardline stance she took against Russia as part of the Obama administration. But I don't honestly think they would expect better from the Republicans without some additional promises. Whoever made them is probably responsible for much of what we've seen in terms of protecting their identity. But it strikes me as highly unlikely it's Trump. And it's very hard to impeach Trump for something to which he can't be personally connected.
