What are your guys opinions on what we should do before trade deadline. I think we are definatly going to do something since they made an effort to make salary cap room, with out having to trade anyone. Ballard takes one for the team.

 I would like to see the Canucks add character tough guys to the 3rd and fourth lines...Moen and Ott...and maybe a tough 7 th 8 th dman like local kid zanon

 Nash is a step backwards...let the Rangers take Nash and f$ck up their chemistry ..Canucks just need a little tinkering

In an ideal world I would like to see a top 4 D man and a depth forward with some size or toughness, without giving up a roster player.  Not sure that is out there.  Ott or Brown would fit in nicely but would a division rival trade them to Vancouver?

Realistically I think the best move is a 3rd-4th line forward like Moen for a prospect unlikely to ever make the Canucks - like Schroeder or Sauve.

Given the core of the team is still under contract for a few more seasons, and their overall level of play will be about the same (Sedins should drop off a bit and Hodgson improve a bit) the smartest move is to not sell the farm.  Our chances for a cup are just as good for the next few seasons as they are now.  Perhaps better next season as I think we can pick up a top 4 D man and top 6 forward before next season with trading Schneider and free agents this summer.

Hate to see Cody go, But Kassian looks like he could be a player,tough kid..Pahlsson? i dont know about him? are his best years behind him?

Bit of a curious day.  Better defense, more grit and improved depth up front and on D, with a loss in third line scoring.  Is this a better team for the playoffs?  not sure.

Bigger surprise is we traded away a young player with future potential, for 2 young players with future potential, but not for imediate impact.

At any rate the most hated team just got a lot nastier if Kassian plays over the edge like he did in the OHL.

The main reason Cody H got moved was he asked to be moved.  Gillis is a straight forward honest guy.  If a player does not want to be here then Gillis will get you the hell out of town and in a hurry.  The move is lateral.....Young player with potential vs. young player with potential.  One player's potential is to be a top ten scorer in the league vs. the other player's potential to be one of the nastiest players to play against in the leaugue.  3 years before I judge this deal?

Because you live on the coast I'll believe you when you say he wanted to be traded.I never heard that myself but it only makes sense. He was making the most he could with the ice time he was getting. He's too good to be left on the 3 or 4 th lines. I like the move but will miss watching Hodgson mature into a great player. If Kassian blooms into a Bertuzzi type player, I'll be overjoyed. Like you said though juskay 2-3-4 years before we'll know.

Maybe those two Buffalo player are what we need. Gragnani will replace Ballard. Don't know much about this guy. Best +10 on a bad team.
