This is a good start. Since spreading out the rate of improvement can be done easily, why not do it right away? Especially since you are only spreading the improvement out by one-two seasons. Waiting longer to implement would only cause more problems.
The speed with which freshmen improved was WAY too much. I'd like to see more changes with potential, but those require more forethought and testing.
Things that need to happen include:
- potential should to be more in line with position-- I'm tired of recruiting 4 & 5-star PGs with Low Potential in Perimeter and Passing. (Esp when they have 40 Perimeter and 75 Passing)
- All players should improve SOME in anything they practice at. I hate it when I don't have anywhere to put my practice minutes because all the important categories (for a position) are maxed
- Potential should be reflected in speed of improvement, not just maximum. (Which goes along with being able to improve SOME at anything)
- Nobody should have low potential in Stamina. When we have nowhere else to put minutes, we should be able to improve conditioning.
Also potential makes it even more annoying that Ath, Spd, Sta and Dur are all controlled by the same practice category. Players with High Potential in Ath, and Low potential in Spd are very annoying. Players with high potential in STA and low potential in Ath AND Spd are worse: you feel like you're wasting practice time.
