It amazes me how people that have no scientific background are repulsed by a consensus of at least 99% of scientists in the weather and climate and environmental fields all over the world.

Sure one can find someone saying no because they get a rise out of it.

The anti science bunch and they are probably mostly or almost all maga republicans
do not trust science because they feel insecure about their own uneducated background.
It makes them feel good to repudiate the hated scientists…those know it alls.
So they claim that their common sense is just what the scientists are missing.

I am not trying to psycho analyze anyone but it explains to me the glorification of a lack of education and pretending to be superior to the science community.
99% eh? Show me the numbers. There are tens otf thousands who agree this is a hoax, and a political pawn. The Global warmingi-sts are too scared to publicaly debate with them, Mainly because they know they will lose

The universities are no longer places where people get educated, but they get indoctrinated.

One guy who knows this is a hoax is the guy who owns the Weather channel. Ya think he might have a clue or two?
Like I said - you can find a kook here and there. The guy you mention was a co founder of the weather channel who had not been a meteorologist for over 30 years.
He is deceased and died from air pollution
inhalation.

You are proving my point about education and attitudes toward college educated people from Maga supporters who are by and large usually not educated and carry a chip on their shoulder about it.

Trump has referred to his base as poorly educated. He says I love the poorly educated.
He has also called them the great uneducated.
YOU are poorly educated. You do not know right from wrong
you're the one who is poorly educated. Just because you think something is right or wrong, does not make it so.

Yup, right on cue, DeScumbag is begging for federal assistance. The price of being a conservative in America today is the complete surrender of any shred of integrity, morality, and critical thinking faculties.
It is the demo's who are immoral. You guys think they are SO great; yet when cities like Portland and Seattle were being ravaged for like 90 days straight (in Portland) their Democrat mayors did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except molly coddle the criminals. Portland's mayor, (How he loves the people) said DON'T send in the National Guard, because they don't give a rip about their people. Over 100 were arrested in one riot, and the Prosecutor didn't prses charges.. and the thugs were released. If you support this, you are a COMPLETE AND UTTER MORON

and what appalls me is that NONE of you seem to thing this even an issue. Donal Trump is the best thing you had in the US for over 40 years, because HE gives a ****.. The democrats don't and their record SHOWS it

TY for that. It's reassuring to know there are folks such as ye that reject truth in favor of belief in an enemy called "them". Them "other guys", it's always their fault...........it's a sad and boring excuse for willful ignorance, almost as boring and clueless as your continual rants about Seattle, Portland, and those pesky other thems, the Dems (or as you called them the demo's). You're continually clapping with one hand.

Try pulling the other out of wherever you have it stuffed!

once again, you only spout what fox news shows you. Baggie, who lives in the Portland area has said it was not as bad as it looked on TV. I know people in Portland who have told me the same thing. Yes, there were some areas you should have stayed away from, but there are areas like that in any major city. Of course, you'd rather believe what you see on Tv than what people who actually live there say because it fits with you agenda.

Hot take regarding Walker, I think if you genuinely agree that abortion is morally equivalent or similar to murder, you should vote for Herschel Walker, regardless of the hypocrisy or his past. A candidate who wants to ban abortion but has caused abortions in the past is preferable to a candidate who wants to keep abortion legal but has not personally contributed to abortions taking place.

In essence, I actually agree with Dana Loesch (ugh)

I would simply like to ask a question, not trying to stir the pot, just asking...

What climate change legislation would prevent thunderstorms from rolling off the west African coast then becoming tropical storms and hurricanes, and at what cost? Do you really think we can control Mother Earth?
10/5/2022 6:39 PM
No. We can't control it.

But we've proved beyond doubt we can sure F her up!!
10/5/2022 6:59 PM
I'm curious if there's anyone who can quantify how much of an impact we can actually have on curbing global warming? Would 5 trillion dollars bring about a 1% reduction? 2% Would we bankrupt our grandchildren's future to make no significant difference? Pols are leading us where?

I'm not against saving the planet, or saving our own skins. I'm just considering that we might be on a huge boondoggle, that only the special interest groups will benefit. Am I wrong to challenge them until they can actually prove that they can do anything meaningful about this? I'm not going to blindly follow them.
10/5/2022 7:55 PM
so, basically what you are saying is that since you can't come up with a way to do it, let's just forget about it. Of course we can't control mother nature, but we can lessen the amount of pollution and crap we put into the atmosphere at the very least.

I'm not dissing it, I'm just questioning the validity of pouring an extravagant amount of money into the unknown. There needs to be a plan. The political science wonks are going to waste an enormous amount on it, having no expertise of fixing anything...all they're good at doing is talking about it. I hear them telling us that catastrophe awaits us, but nothing about how to repair it.
Also, how much of my money are they going to take from me to fix it, and how will they use those funds? Thats a valid question...I should be within my rights to receive an answer, not just to trust them with getting it done. They're wasting a good bit of it already...I don't send checks to Joel Osteen so he can add to his car collection...these people in Washington only want to continue the cash flow, and we probably won't get much bang for our buck. I've seen enough of their handiwork to know not to trust them...

We did this:
https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/story/rebuilding-ozone-layer-how-world-came-together-ultimate-repair-job

In my lifetime the world population has more than doubled. Manufactured goods are in much more demand than 50 years ago. That certainly makes cleaning it up much more difficult.

Much of what needs to be done is by eliminating, not adding. It will boil down to how much we are willing to sacrifice to improve the environment. Are Californians going to want to continue to deal with rolling blackouts until the storage issue of power is resolved? They are relying on wind and solar without sufficient ways to store what they generate. Are we going to travel less, or turn our thermostats down 5-10 degrees in winter to save energy? It isn't 70 and sunny everywhere...

Are we ready to go green as fast as the pols want us to? I think we are still short on technology to dive too deep.

I'm afraid that Greg Lake of King Crimson said it best

The fate of all mankind I see Is in the hands of fools
10/6/2022 8:42 AM
Doc, I actually agree with you. Man (and woman) -kind is largely a collection of fools.
And to answer your previous question...............NO. We're NOT ready to go green as fast as needed.
Few are willing to sacrifice for their grandchildren these days.
Too selfish, greedy, and stupid.

We're likely doomed. Finito!
On the skid to destruction.

I think Barry McGuire said it best........... we're on the eve of destruction.
10/6/2022 9:14 AM
I'm willing to sacrifice, but I'm not convinced that we can effect much change, even if we magically ended all carbon emissions tomorrow.

Too much forcing technologies that aren't really economically viable yet. We'll bankrupt our economy in the name of "saving the planet" only to discover we have much less control than we thought.

Are we contributing? Speeding up the climate change? Sure. Can we stop or reverse it? Laughable IMO. There's always been climate cycles throughout the billions of years. None of which were caused or impacted by people.

Can you imagine being stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for hours trying to evacuate and most of the cars are electric, losing power and not having enough range to successfully make it to safety...
