Guy on the radio is speculating that what happened in the Urban Meyer situation was that the Florida AD (who dealt with the Billy Donovan situation a few years ago) came to Urban and said, "Ok, pal, yer golden parachute is gone". And Urban said "uh-oh, I was counting on that cash."

He speculates that there were contractual issues because the wife seemed to be out of the loop.

I think the guy on the radio wants listeners. Your guess is as good as his. My guess is that Meyer wanted to step away for a year and explore his options for 2011. Now he may have changed his mind due to contractual issues or the reaction he received from those around him. Or maybe he's a woman who changes his mind every couple of minutes. But I doubt the guy on the radio knows anymore about it than we do.

It's a really touchy subject. I think, if overcompensated, that people really have no reason to gripe. But, until I've walked in those shoes, I'm not sure I wouldn't be saying "I'm not moving!" But the bigger problem is the potential abuse of power. Grease the right palm and you can knock down anyone's home and build a strip mall. If that hasn't already happened, it soon will.
