Yep....it's conference championship day.  That's a tough one, as I NEVER miss that day.

Yeah... me either. It's always my fantasy football year end party that day

Nice bounceback win after last night's abortion.  Great all-around defensive effort, too.  Turco was great as well.

D looked better with Campbell's return, but we got out-goalied tonight.

they looked flat last night - both teams. Neither NYR or the Hawks played with the desire to win that one imo. Missing Hossa might be the case... he seems to be the one that is always giving it all on every shift.

The season is young.......but check out  the standings.  The Hawks are currently in first place but the Hawks have played 5 more games than everyone else in the div.  Even Columbus could pass the Hawks once they catch up in games played.

Hawks to the cellar.....That would be SWWEEEEEETTTT!!!!

Champs to Chumps in only 14 roster moves?????

Just cause a team shoots a lot doesn't necessarily mean they had fight in them and were crashing the lane for rebounds, passing for good shots, or driving the puck to the net. It's just my opinion but they lacked the heart that hossa brings every game. 33 blocks suggests they were taking a lot of bad outside shots imo. I've seen what the hawks bring to the table... and they didn't bring it vs the rangers. It was a slow paced game ..... I guess that happens when you lack depth and injuries take a toll ;)

This is where Versteeg and Ladd become big losses, because they'd be filling in well for Hossa and Bolland's injuries. That said, I'd rather they go down now rather than 2 weeks before the playoffs. The best thing that can possibly happen to the Hawks is for them to go into the playoffs as an underdog and be underestimated.

Hawks are a 7th place team or worse......

The talent is there, but the effort has been horseshit. If they don't get their heads out of their *****, they're gonna be sorry. That was an embarrassment against a garbage team last night. Unacceptable.

I disagree. The hawks to me are comparable to the NBA sixers with Iverson - weak depth / role players and one superstar that the team relies on. The hawks have superstars in Kane, Toews, and Keith and solid supporting players in Hossa, Sharp, Campbell.... but after that the dropoff is considerably weaker than the rest of the division imo. Having 6-8 stud players and the rest sub-par players on a 23 man roster is not a winning formula. Losing and not replacing talent and depth like Ladd and Versteeg hurts the team tremedously. Lets face it - even Buff (a 25 year old 6'5" 265 lb moster) has 12 points in 12 games so far. The hawks could use that.

as a sidenote - letting niemi go may have been the best move the hawks made all offseason.
