i really think there is a world of difference between greenies and steroids......greenies make you more awake...not a better player.
steroids allow you play beyond your natural abilities..........in some cases way beyond the natural ability......instead of greenies they could have drank a whole lot of coffee...just not equal in my opinion.
the jerk factor is not relevant to me....it does not factor in for me...steroids does.

No argument from me about #1. Dylan blew up all the stale pop song conventions, and lyrically opened the door for everyone else on that list (except Cohen, who was already publishing poetry in the mid 1950s -- although Cohen can thank Bob for making acceptable the idea of a poet with a non-typical singing voice making records).

Nice to see Mick at #5. I always thought he didn't get enough credit for his lyrics.

Mine died in 2000, age 79. He gave me the following advice, in all seriousness, when I was a teenager and he was still in full possession of his mental faculties: that on my wedding night, I should beat the crap out of my bride so as to "set the tone for the marriage," i.e. establish who's boss in this matrimonial enterprise. NYT reporting tonight that Trump ordered the firing of Mueller last June:

After receiving the president’s order to fire Mr. Mueller, the White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn II, refused to ask the Justice Department to dismiss the special counsel, saying he would quit instead, the people said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they did not want to be identified discussing a continuing investigation.

Mr. McGahn disagreed with the president’s case and told senior White House officials that firing Mr. Mueller would have a catastrophic effect on Mr. Trump’s presidency. Mr. McGahn also told White House officials that Mr. Trump would not follow through on the dismissal on his own. The president then backed off.

Ty Cobb, who manages the White House’s relationship with Mr. Mueller’s office, said in a statement, “We decline to comment out of respect for the Office of the Special Counsel and its process.”

Mr. McGahn, a longtime Republican campaign finance lawyer in Washington who served on the Federal Election Commission, was the top lawyer on Mr. Trump’s campaign. He has been involved in nearly every key decision Mr. Trump has made — like the firing of the former F.B.I. director — that is being scrutinized by Mr. Mueller.

Mr. McGahn was also concerned that firing the special counsel would incite more questions about whether the White House was trying to obstruct the Russia investigation.

The old boy thinks he's still on that tacky TV show where the camera zooms in tight and he squints dramatically, points, and says, "Yuh fired!"

funny..i wreaked my speakers on pearl jam - world wide suicide.
i knew a guy who slipped on some smuckers jelly at the supermarket - he got into a jam.

I guess we disagree here. No big deal. Greenies may just make you more alert (and I think they give you more energy as well, but I don't have any first hand experience, so I'm not sure) but if you're tired, keeping you more awake will definitely enhance your performance. Someone who has poor vision and wears glasses or contacts is able to play beyond his natural abilities too. Why is that any different?

someone who wears glasses is able to be brought back to normal eyesight ability......a drug that gives you xray vision would enhance normal ability.....the greenies were used because in that era the players would party all night and were tired for next game....it was a new era with 162 games and more night games.......the greenies made them reenergized and alert because they were hung over but it did not make them stronger..more muscular and more skilled....for every game on a permanent basis....the way steroids do.

like I said, we just disagree. If someone has poor vision that would affect their natural ability to hit a baseball. If glasses or contact improve their eyesight their natural ability is being enhanced.

I think you have to admit greenies enhance a players ability, its just the level of enhancement you are questioning. To me, it doesn't matter. If some drugs makes you perform better, its a performance enhancing drug. To say one is okay because it doesn't enhance your performance as much as the other can doesn't matter to me. Its still a PED. Why should Bonds and Clemens be penalized because steroids worked better for them than they did for say, Marvin Bernard?

it is a difference between restoration and enhancement beyond restoration.
under your philosophy ..one a player would be injured he would have to retire.
once someone vision went from 20-20 to 20-40 he would have to retire or just not play well anymore.
there is a difference between enhancement and restoration.
if a player is starving he will play poorly....if he eats lunch that restores his health.
the greenies dont enhance...they artificially restore ....maximum restoration i agree but it does not enhance their eyesight or athletic skills or athletic build.

im not saying greenies were ok......but not in the same boat as steroids...which enhance 162 games and playoffs......greenies were not used every game and they did something very very different.
