Oh, wait... he seems to agree with you, so: yeah, I'm sure you do. Because that's how you roll.

Well, you're attempting to stand up and fight for a player, manager and team who have all accepted it and moved on.

It's kind of hard to rally in support of someone who's not looking for said support.

Hey now! He's speaking for all the little people. Because, you know, he's one of them.
6/9/2010 2:27 PM
So let me get this straight... if I can find one single Tigers fan who hasn't accepted it and moved on, then we get to add this to the large pile of refuted arguments?

After all, if "all the tigers fans have moved on" is your argument, then if it's false....
6/9/2010 2:34 PM
Forget the fans...how about the players, coaches and umps affected directly by it?

You're attempting to launch a crusade against this atrocity that was committed, while the direct "victims" of it have already moved on and publicly encouraged others to do the same.

Why don't you tell rsp to forget the fans? This whole line of argument was his idea.

Anyway, baseball players mostly say what they understand that they're supposed to say. So consider me unmoved.

Really? Because the reactions of Galarraga and Inge/Laird/Leyland the night off were quite different.

Galarraga's a class act. And his teammates, who were uber ****** the night it happened, have clearly moved on from it as well.
6/9/2010 5:56 PM
They're all clearly speaking in lockstep... which is what you'd expect. On any issue.

****, players can be fined for criticizing umps. Or MLB.

Unconvincing.

Seriously, what are they supposed to say?

One stupid, easily dismissed argument after another from you morons.

Mental exercise:

Assume everyone on the Tigers thinks everything is fine, as you say they do. Everyone except, say, the second baseman, who still is ****** off and thinks it's bullshit.

What do you imagine the second baseman would have to say about it, if asked?

If you answer any variant on "he would candidly speak his mind, and tell us what he really thinks on the topic" then you're even stupider than I thought possible. Which is heroic, because you are CONSTANTLY working to push that bar lower and lower.

I don't think a player can be fined for saying something to the effect of "It sucks. It still leaves a bad taste in our mouths. I really wish the commissioner would give it another look and overturn it. Armando deserves that."...or..."I fully support bosux in his crusade. I think we should use replay to reverse potentially game-ending calls that are missed. It's about time we moved into the 21st century."

Both mild, honest, unfineable statements...yet we're not hearing them. Hmmm...I wonder why? Couldn't possibly be because ballplayers deal with missed calls throughout the season and learn to move past them.

As I'm sure many reading this thread would attest, you're sure giving me a run for my money in the "idiot" reputation department

But that can be ignored as any random interpreter pleases.
What has a direct impact on these forums is you presenting that long-lost videotape.

First google result for "fined for criticising umpire:"

"It's a (terrible) call," Walker said. "I don't know if the guy's got something against me or what, but no way did I balk. It changed the whole game. ... It's unacceptable at this level."

Seems to be on a par with "it sucks"

FINED.

Ballplayers saying boilerplate crap instead of what they really feel is legendary. Do you even follow baseball?

I'm pretty sure that Jamie Walker referenced the umpire in his statement and insinuated he had a personal bias against him. (Which is BS, since Angel Hernandez has a bias against everyone).

In my examples above, I didn't mention an umpire at all. You can tell the difference, right?

Do you even read at all? Or are you just in that primate zone now where you write off everything against you as retarded so you can continue to be "right"?
