I would have liked to stick it to rbow923 for the Carty pick, but Houston is now off the board...  I was close to taking Baltimore off the board just because it's something that rarely happens... but instead, I'll pick another player from a division rival...

Tug McGraw, Phi

Hey!  Why pick on my poor Orioles?
Sounds like it would have been just for the sport of it.

Yep.  I was so close to take Frohwirth instead of McGraw.

We almost took Mussina over Jimmy Key.

Wow, you guys are just plain mean...  Have the Orioles ever done well in Rule V?
2/15/2011 7:18 PM
This might be the first time I've ever seen the Orioles used (although I've only played Rule V 6-7 times).

I'd love to see the historical records of all the franchises (and all the owners).

I'm working on listing as many seasons as I can. Trying to get help from admin. Regarding the Orioles, they're used on average about once every 3 seasons or so.

Yeah, I'm not too optimistic...

How quickly we forget...the Orioles won the whole thing just two seasons ago!

Thanks.  Looks like the header is messed up a bit, but I can figure it out.  Looks like Pirates an Rockies only teams not to win more than 81 games.  Also can't believe the Cubs has the highest percentage of making the playoffs ( 7 out of 11).

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by that too. I also thought it was interesting that the Reds had the 2nd highest winning % but were only used 9/14 times.  I'll work on fixing the columns and verifiying some of the data.  I was a bit cross-eyed last night when I had completed this.

This really proves out what we've said all along that this is a very competitive league with almost every team having some success.  A couple of other observations:
  • There have been only 3 teams in 14 seasons that have had 100 wins (Astros, Cardinals, Athletics - once each).
  • 12 seasons with over 100 losses but most of those were new owners to WIS or the theme that hadn't quite gotten it down yet. Those seem to be outliers to me rather than just a bad performance (you'd really have to work to lose 133 games with the Phillies, 115 with the Cards, 124 with the Mariners etc).
  • The Red Sox have only had winning records in 5 out of 13 seasons
  • Guess it's pretty tough to win with the Rockies, Diamondbacks & Pirates - perhaps a challenge out there for future seasons.....

wow, I guess stats ARE misleading, be in the league long enough, and I actually look like I know what I am doing.  I am proud to be in the top 5 however
