Player Improvement Change Topic

Implement as soon as you are extremely confident that it will work as intended. In this case, I'm not sure what waiting will do. It's not like this change would really affect how we run our teams.

That said, please make sure it accounts for existing potential players that have already maxed. If the Jr's that have already gained 200 points start increasing any more, that would be a problem.

I think we all should be thankful that they are listening to us, first and foremost.

I do, however, think the next change should be in the potential itself. Players can improve in certain categories (BH, PE, P, etc.) with consistent practice time in that area. I think limiting certain areas of potential regardless of practice time is unrealistic.

Slowing down improvement is a good change. It will make practice minutes continue to be valuable in the Jr and Sr season. However, I don't think it will make this the best long-term solution. At some point, I think they are going to have to have "softer" caps on potential. But this at least should stop the situation where your assistant basically tells you a player should stop practicing as a SO.

what you need are players who are doing all these posts of things seble. some growing amazing amounts year one. some having breakout sophomore years some growing steadily to become great sr players. not just one or the other.

Thanks for taking this under advisement and working on a plan... My suggestion no hard cap...That has been a big sticking point for many...

I would suggest when a player reaches the cap.... that he could expect improvements of 2 points a year or so with 15 mins practice and decent WE and starter PT... Not so much tha the would get much better but have a place for practice time that wasnt worthless..

If that doesnt work.. then maybe make it so that when a player reaches his peak he need a higher level of practice time to maintain it... say 12 mins or so...

Much like in real life.

I agree

i still hold that way to many top level players are being capped too low. no top notch pg prospect should be capped below 90 for bh or pa. top notch big men in reb . . .

right so thats why i think if you set the trigger for players based on total minutes played you can keep some power in the coaches hands and give it a bit more reality.

I'm fine with potential in theory...and I also like the thought of some players maxing early while others take all 4 seasons. Hopefully this is the last tweak needed.

i echo this.

I guess I'm ok with it. I will have to move away from a combo defense...something I changed to when I had all these extra practice minutes. Something I'm guessing a lot of coaches moved to. I guess I will try to keep the combo defense but with less practice minutes. We shall see. Thanks seble for listening to the masses.

I think the two main things that are needed are varying development speeds, which has been mentioned above. (i.e. some people jumping a lot in two seasons like they seem to now along with some who take 4 seasons to develop as they did pre potential)

Additionally, I think that they key change that needs to be made is a removal of a hard cap. This is making practice time irrelevant, especially on deep teams. By the time a player is around long enough to break the starting line up they are maxed out and can no longer improve. This also greatly diminishes the benefit of redshirting players as the extra year of improvement doesn't really mean anything since they max out in two years anyway.

Completely agree with this thought

Development speeds do vary based on practice time, game time, work ethic, and potential.
