For instance, you wouldn't take an ath 80 big man with 65 rebounding over an ath 65 big man with 90 rebounding. I mean, Is ath slightly more important than rebounding? Maybe. I had a guy who was 22 ath/22 speed or something but was in the 80s in rebounding, sb, and 70s in LP. He was our conference POY in the best D3 conference in the country when my team was top 5 rpi, and averaged something like 11pts/9 reb/2 blocks. I almost never recruit low ath big men unless they are just ridiculously good at skills.

So, it's a tradeoff. There are going to be a million threads like this where people are getting an idea, but I don't know that anyone knows exactly how much more important one skill is than the other. It's a give and take and balance type thing.

Those are not the same total ratings... you are skewing the example so of course the one with higher rebounding wins... Try 90 ath 65 reb v 65 ath 90 reb. I would take the 90 ath.

Of course, I would take it as well. I said that athleticism was greater than rebounding in my post; however, the degree to which it is more important is debatable.

In the example, all other things considered, I would take 80 ath + 65 rebounding over 65 ath + 80 rebounding. As would you, like you said.

But would you take 65 ath + 81 rebounding over 80 ath + 65 rebounding?

...would you take 65 ath + 82 rebounding over 80 ath + 65 rebounding?

...would you take 65 ath + 84 rebounding over 80 ath + 65 rebounding?

...would you take 65 ath + 87 rebounding over 80 ath + 65 rebounding?

On a sliding scale, I think I would definitely take 90 rebounding + 65 ath over 80 ath + 65 rebounding-- but in between that? I have no idea. That is where most people differ on their opinions.

80 ath/60reb always for me but 60ath/80 reb is good also

funny, while this post has been going on, I just recruited a d1 big man (lenny joy) who is terrible at both rebounding(61) and athleticism(38), I recruited him for a couple of real specific reasons, but mainly due to stamina as my team is really weak at big man, the fact I wanted to put all my $ into kincade and joy did not take much to get, and joy did take the redshirt if I don't need him (doug kincade the other recruit obviously 'fits' everyone's need and might start for my team at center or PF)

I've never recruited anyone for stamina-- do people actually do that? I've always thought of stamina as an afterthought unless it is really terrible, although I've never had a D1 team.

I always make sure to look at it. I don't want a kid who can't play more then 15 mpg across his career.

This may be 'conventional forum wisdom' but it is never how I rated or recruited my bigs

Sure all the time a guy with a 60 stamina will be much less effective than a slightly lesser player with an 80 stamina.
