Quick note about rankings: the plan at this point is to have them update after each game instead of every two games. It takes away that bit of realism, but it makes things simpler on our end and probably makes you guys happier too.

I like this attitude of not feeling locked in to reproducing real life just for the sake of saying it's real life. Many coaches have said numerous times that there are just some parts of real life that don't translate well into this game. If the game can be improved by modifying certain aspects of real life to simplify the programming and meet user desires then I'm all for it. I hope that seble continues with this approach. Hopefully at least some of the diehard traditionalist users will accept that this is a game first and not merely a pure replication for the sake of replication device.

I give TK all the credit in the world for being smart enough and capable enough to put together a game like this. It's an endeavor that would be mind-bogglingly impossible for most people. I can't even fathom it.

That said, TK then proceeded to run HD into the ground with poor decisions, poor implementation, poor (non-existent) communication, poor treatment of coaches and a crazy defensiveness any time someone dared criticize his baby.

Time will tell what seble will be able to fix and what he won't, and OR is correct, he doesn't know the game as well as TK. That said, I am encouraged by his attitude, openness and approach. It is a refreshing change from the incredibly poor way TK handled things in his last year or two with HD.

So I definitely stand behind what seble's trying to do and the way he's going about it, and am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt as well as my support.

I agree, dalter. The atttitude from seble is a refreshing change. TK used to infuriate me by his refusal to admit errors. Once, when there was an error on the 'lock' list, he told me that the list was a totally separate entity from WIS and he had no control over it.

And apologize??? NEVER! There was an episode where I was raked over the coals in the Forum by fellow coaches. When I was proved correct, I asked TK to take the heat off of me by issuing a Forum apology. I even wrote a 'tongue in cheek' apology for him. All he had to to was 'cut and paste'. He didn't even respond to my request.

Never getting a response from my tickets was usually what happened during the TK era. While CS is still not amazing, I do feel it has improved a great deal. At least i can expect a response within a few days now (usually 24 hours or less) as opposed to a week or two with numerous follow ups by me.

1. The best thing would be to simply make the rankings window dressing, like they are in real life. IRL, they're used to promote the game and are filled out by coaches' assistants and sportswriters who see a tiny fraction of the teams play and are just following the herd.

I'll have you know I voted in the coaches poll for two seasons. Of course that was before the internet, and I didn't have cable, and the morning paper often didn't have scores from games played west of the Mississippi.

But I did have my Street & Smith preseason yearbook and a bunch of black & white film.

Actually it was a bit better than that. I took pride pulling an Auburn or Oklahoma up just a bit.

If I'm not mistaken, I think he was a grad assistant for Al McGuire at Marquette (or something along those lines). Pretty cool.
