Mike Brown --- has put together a pretty damn good team over there. They dont have holes anywhere besides maybe the OL...and having your #1 pick get hurt after already having reporting late couldnt have helped...the Bengals were good in the 80s bad in the 90s and been decent this decade...to say he is in the top 5 is insane...I think sticking by Marvin Lewis is also a smart move as it adds stability and the players like him (which makes a big difference)...whether he kept him because he's cheap or whatever other reason its the smart thing..
We'll agree Marvin Lewis is a good thing. However, you really are missing the point about Mike Brown. He is a horrible owner. They were not good in the 90's.
Paul Brown died in 1991, and Mike Brown took over. Here are the Bengal's won-loss record from 1991-99 - 3-13, 5-11, 3-13, 3-13, 7-9, 8-8, 7-9, 3-13, 4-12.
And since 2000 - 4-12. 4-12, 2-14, 8-8, 8-8,
11-5, 8-8, 7-9, 4-11-1.
One winning record since he took over. That is not the mark of a good owner. That is Clipper's bad. Washington Nationals bad. Consistently bad over 18 yrs is a proven track record. As long as Mike Brown is GM, they will never consistently win.
