Personally if I were looking at the best HD coaches their D2/D3 would not help their resume for me.

My #1 example would be a guy like cyric612. Hes 518-74 in Phelan D2 at Wilmington with 4 national championships (56-12 NT record) and in Knight also added a D2 natonal title.

Yet 8+ seasons at Wisconsin in Knight hes 122-125 been to 2 NTs, 2 PITs, had one NT win.
This might be true for some but not all. You can look at someone like dcy who has had a ton of success at D2 (all-time leader in wins in all of Tark) has won D2 NTs in multiple worlds but on his other ID he's had success in D1 including at least 1 NT.

The two a day worlds are the only ones that had a completely full d3 for year 1 are they not?

wrong. what possible basis could one have to conclude this?

Continued success is a key. a few good seasons shouldnt count, winning with some elses players should not count and total wins is not a good measure. I feel all levels should be counted and alias included.

We should form some sort of baseline like in real life. baseball has 3k hits, etc.

I think everything should be divided by total seasons. Not everyone can afford 7 or 8 teams and those that cant shouldnt be penalized by it.

IMHO multiple id's should be treated individually

The titles v. ws thing is always going to be a discussion. Is someone who has been at the same school for 20+ season nec. a better coach than someone whose bounced from school to school and consistantly won but has fewer titles? Its the ol Larry Brown v. Phil Jackson or maybe even Pat Riley discussion.

I think winning % over a certain amount of games played is the best guage for any type of list and the when distinguishing among that group titles should be used.

Interesting none the less.

Tanner,

Before you go dissing too many other coaches, there are lots of arguments that can be made along these lines. For example, I think one of the easiest things to do in HD is to keep an elite DI program elite when you are one of the first coaches in a world to get the BCS conferences (i.e. your Stanford and Duke teams in Knight and Phelan). It's almost impossible not to keep your talent extremely high in those situations.

I have a title at each level, DI, DII, and DIII. It took me the longest time to get my DIII title. You cannot discount a championship on any level in HD, they are not easily won. There are a lot of quality coaches in each division of each world of which I am a coach, so you cannot say that winning a title in DI is any more or less difficult than it is in DIII.
