who to redshirt? Topic

If it was press/fb then you got yourself 2 good recruits who could possible go for 10 ppg or close to it. They have super stud ath/speed, but thats it. Everything else is below average other then 1 other core which above average and that is the reb on the SF. IMO, he is currently the better recruit (#1) and will be the better recruit 4 seasons from now. If you want to win now, play him. If you are looking to hold the best player back because you want success in a few seasons then redshirt him. So, want to win/need depth? Redshirt player 2. Want the best player to be held back for an extra season or don't need much out of either for a season or 2? Redshirt player 1.

I actually prefer to RS low WE players more then high WE players. Since all players max out their ratings by the end of their 3rd season no matter what, the main advantage to RS a player is to give him an extra season of IQ practice. Since his IQ will go up at a slower rate with a low WE, he will benefit more from that extra season of IQ practice then a high WE player.

Make sense?

Also, great job recruiting skunk. Those 2 players are excellent D3 players. I would prob RS player #1, but it is too close to really make a bad decision.

Just to clarify some things in this thread

1. RS low WE players is clearly a good idea. they will gain just a few points in year one, but it'll make it easier for them to cap out by their Sr year. also, playing time depends on how easily they improve. there is a relatively big difference between 25 min a game and 15 min a game.

2. these are good role players for d3. perhaps the best player i ever recruited was a d3 SF who i gave no distro to. he was 80 ath/60sp/60reb/65def/60 passing. his statline was like 3 points a game (on over 60% shooting, mostly putbacks), 6 rebounds a game (led the team his senior year, despite A prestige and good rebounders down low), 2 or 3 assists a game, over a steal per game. guys like this win championships.

3. which one you redshirt doesn't really matter. it's almost too bad that you got both of these guys in the same class, it'd be much nicer to have them two years apart because they are essentially the same player.

wow great points from coachb, furry, pork, and jonesy. i think i'll redshirt 2, since 1 can immediately help with rebounding. -thanks for all the good advice.

Always remember that any recruit that has high in a category will gain 20 points over his career at a minimum. This is the reason why you cannot find any recruit at any level or world with high potential in a starting rating above 79.

Player one will be like 40 SPD and 90 ATH

Player 2 at like 75 SPD and 65 ATH

I would take either of those numbers all day long in D3 for sure! Don't let these other people bring you down, skunk. Both of these players would be starting by their JR year for an average D2 team.

These are 2 good recruits for D3. I would be happy to take either on my A prestige D3 team. I would redshirt whichever player would take it. But it would be a good idea to RS them because of the low WE like pork said.
