how are booster gifts more worthwhile for a big time program with lots of tourney money? i would think the possibility of the prestige drop and probation, which is way more of a penalty for a big time program, would be enough deterrent. i personally would never use them at my real d1 school unless it was significantly less than 1% i would get caught. but at my play d1 school, what do i have to lose? going from a d+ to a d-?

I think the best time to use them would be in the C prestige range.

To say that boosters are valued at a home visit is asinine, coming from someone who came in asking questions it seems like you started a thread to point out your dislike for something you have never tried. Seems like this thread is completely pointless because you already had your answers before you posted.

Easy, zhawks. Are you having a bad day? I asked a question and gave my opinion. I didn't really get any insight from your nasty rant.

i know zedude can get a bit testy at times and maybe he was a bit over the line here... but alot of what he said is 100% true. Jet, it does seem like ou had our mind made up before really hearing anyone answer your question.

So it does make me wonder why you started the thread... to learn more about booster gifts? or to express your views on the topic?

i find it very interesting that bri says he has got away with it a couple of times. i think that may be the first time i ever heard someone claim to have gotten away with it.

I have heard of others who, Like furrball, have used them , and gotten caught, but still accomplished what they wanted to in the end and feel that using them was a good idea for that situation.

i have mixed feelings. there is a part of me that thinks to expand booster gifts a bit and allow them to get away with it a bit more often might add something to the game, but then im not sure how id feel when i am the A+ prestige guy sitting on a 5star and here comes this chump with a pile of booster cash and he blows me away. not sure id be real happy in that case. i can only think of one time where something kind of like that (not that extreme) happened to me, and it was frustrating.

Yeah I hear ya there ole d.

Here is my thought, you are right in saying that expanding them could add another dimension to recruiting, also allowing schools to recruit bigger distance. Many coaches would agree that allowing a higher potential of recruiting distance would be welcome. Also by increasing the, sometimes small, beneift of boosters it would also allow for smaller schools to have more of a chance against the big boys outside of the scope of money constraints and prestige/distance values, but at a possibly bigger cost in the end.

That said I don't believe that I am for that at the moment as there are so many other things that could and should be fixed about recruiting before a serious discussion is had about the value of booster gifts.

Another question I just thought of, are booster gifts equal across all levels? or is an A+ schools booster gift worth more then a B+ schools booster gift?

It wasn't your initial post? Can you not understand you got a few answers then instead of continuing a discussion of boosters went off about how they should be done away with. Why even ask a question if all you wanted to do was ***** about booster? Just start the thread saying "I hate booster they need to be done away with!!!"

Also you have an opinion not based with any fact. If boosters were broken in anyway then sure but you have never tried them so how the heck can you say they are only worth a home visit? You don't even know if the player accepted them or not in these 'cases' that you have seen. And I highly doubt that the players in these cases you site accepted the gift.

I think the higher prestige programs have the $ to spend on the personality tests. They are expensive due to the low amount of players who will accept them. If you find the players open to them the risk is low making the strong get stronger. But the fact that the better programs have the money they dont really need boosters so majority dont use them or at least dont say they do. I know how furry has used them and its at d2 which due to the cost he was nto able to properly scout. I think the whole landscape of boosters could be improved. Jet if you have any specific ?'s ask. Im by no means an expert on it but have used them for 2 seasons in d1 and will continue.

Tark needs to have all booster gifts all the time, no penalties

Right I agree with it being easier to pay for those tests at higher prestiges that is why if they had a little more punch to them possibly it could negate that small cost. Just saying.

Way to acknowledge the thoughtful posts I have put into this thread. Thought you wanted answers and thoughts about Boosters, guess the title of this thread completely mislead me.
