Wiz, the only 2 people who can say with absolute certainty are Tarek Kamil, the founder of WIS and original programmer for HD or Scott Eble, the current HD programmer. If you don't believe me or Z or any of the other coaches who say that is how it is then you will have to ask seble directly since TK no longer works for WIS.

Q: How does tempo affect the game?
A: The tempo refers to the speed at which you want your offense to run. The faster the tempo, the quicker you'll be shooting and the more conditioning your players will require.

If I'm running a flex, as soon as they get into their half court set and with the mentioning of "more conditioning" should we assume the players are working harder to get open in an uptempo?

With the current logic, is it also possible that when the few opportunities presents itself, they could use a fastbreak system and override the current settings, which would explain the 5 second differential from defensive rebound to attempted shot?

No.

Fastbreak should be an add-on to the other 3 offenses not a 4th option, just as FCP should be with the defenses.

C'mon zhawks, I know you have more than that in you.

I already explained what tempo means in terms of HD.

So you can't explain the 5 second differential?

Yes I already did. It was the quickest shot. How does that not make sense?

It is as simple as that.

Slowdown does the exact opposite the team doesn't shoot until very late in the shot clock.

It has nothing to do with how fast your players run or how slow they walk.

"More conditioning" is necessary because by taking quicker shots the teams are running up and down the court more frequently.

RE: the 5 second shot in Flex, it is possible that a team could run at FB speed for that particular event but it is not the standard pace.

Now I agreed with the rest of your post. 5 seconds isn't a fastbreak? C'mon. Really?

Just bringing this other post over so the other thread doesn't get cluttered.

You are seeing correlation here as how tempo is setup in HD the top teams should be running it more often then not, especially at the lower levels. The more possessions you get (which is all an UT offense does) means it is more likely that the better team wins.

Uptempo is not causing these teams to have a better FG% or be the top teams it is just the correlation because of how WIS handles what it calls 'tempo'.

Here is my question. Agreed with just about everything here.

However, if the players aren't working harder to get open. It's not a fastbreak offense. Assuming everything else is equal, why does the uptempo team need more conditioning or why do they tire faster? Should they? If fact it's the other team that's spending more time on offense.

Even though the uptempo team is getting more shot opportunities during the game, the other team would still get just as many, but take longer to shoot.
