Here's some info that may be of use to others.

SF
30 miles away
511 rating
185 ranking
I have a C- team prestige
A+ loyalty and reputation
He told me I was a backup on the first day
That's a tough one to take. I'd have guessed he would have dropped given he was within 70 miles, but the C- prestige might be just half a grade too low. Maybe someone else with slightly better prestige is also after him?

You might post his initial response for us to see. It's probably pretty black and white, but I'd still be interested to see which one it was.

lets say 10 to 12 evals works more often then not. should you spend 10 (12) all at once or five (6) and five (6)? That's a personal preference really. The risk you run by doing them in two batches is that it gives competing coaches another cycle to try to get the same player.

........and if a player is further then 330 miles, but less then 500 miles and you wanted to pull down a player, should you even bother trying? Not sure what hat you pulled 330 miles out of, but I think the point where it gets more expensive is around 370-380 miles. Once you cross that line, you're talking $500 per eval, so that's not a good use of your money, in my opinion, especially in DIII.

could you pull down a player with less then 10 evals? if so, whats the least amount of evals it took to pull down a player? For planning purposes you're really best off assuming that it will be a minimum of 10 evals.

I believe that when the evals are done also makes a difference. It may take 30 the first day, but only 15 after signings. This may be only my own opinion, but it seems to be the case for me. It also may be possible that once the player starts falling down to the A range schools, it is easier/cheaper to pull them down, as opposed to when they are still the level ahead of everyone.

Any opinions on my earlier question?

Yes, he may drop to you a few cycles before he would had you not made any effort. And, yes, of course your past effort counts. Why wouldn't it?

Reason I ask the first question is in D2, I just spent about 25 evals on a guy and started to get conservative on cash. I couldn't pull him down, and he didn't drop to me, but dropped to a team 1/3 of a grade above me. (Yes, he dropped, or that's what the other coach told me.) If all the evals count for something, it must not be much.

No to the first question. Yes to the second one, but until you do something (a call - anything) he will still remain undecided when he drops.
