at the beginning of the other thread i pointed out that in a 52 mil league, specialists rule. high volume players are usually not the norm like they are in 42 mil leagues (unless u'r drafting 1 of the greats). when i drafted thurmond, i knew there was no way i'd be using any of his big ticket seasons... i will use that 2700 min one with 28.2% dreb/12.3% oreb. his 18% usage worked for me, but al jefferson's did not (28.2%)... thurmond's big seasons have lower %'s, though more points, rebs, asts, blks, etc. i was quite close in taking one of jefferson's shorter seasons with better %'s, but nate's 22.6 reb pg swayed me more. we'll see.

and kat is right, and so is ash, there's lots of ways to skin a cat (forgive the idiom, kat)... uva has his own way... if i'm guessing right, he puts a premium on efficiency, not necessariy efg%, and that "efficiency" includes ft% t.o.'s and fouls equally weighted in the total package.

I think the key thing in a 52m cap that some of you guys are touching on is that you actually fit as many $$$ into minutes actually spent on the floor as possible - you know, spend as much on the first 19700 minutes you draft as possible - this seems like the extra twist, not just knowing enough about how the sim works to get the right numbers but actually maximizing those numbers on the floor while accounting for a moving standard that is being set as the other owners draft

Definitely. In $42 million caps, you want to get as much minute bang for your buck (along with the good advanced stats, of course)... in $52 million cap, you want to spend more $$ per minute.

For example, Wilt vs Moses. They have similar rebounding percentages. Moses costs a cool $9 mill for 3390 minutes... while there's a great version of wilt that costs $11.5 mill for 3364 minutes. The value of said Wilt is higher than Moses in a league like this, as you're spending a lot more per-minute. What do you get in those minutes? Higher ast%, much higher blk%, less pf per 48min, more ftas, higher usage (and more shots)... I think that wilt has a lower tov% than moses, too... Bottom line is that, for the same amount of minutes, you're getting a whole lot more in other areas than just rebounding, which is Moses's primary role in a $42 million team (paint scoring and ftas are very nice, too, don't get me wrong, but nobody hits the boards like Moses for those minutes).

This is just one example, and it might not be the best, but I think it's pretty close to explaining my point.

I will be the first to say that my team will end up having a high percentage but will lose lots. I have tonnes to still learn in my comeback to wis; but I am willing to learn over time.
