all right, shap! here we go now... and a hearty welcome to calcutta... a baseball expert in an nba draft pool... just the kind of owner who'll kick all our butts. nice to have ya... ok, slots, 4 and 7 are yours, guys.

scud, before I jump in, convince me how drafting closer to #1 is not an advantage. If it's a snake draft, #1 will have first pick of 3 positions, right? doesn't seem fair for those picking near #24.

not 3, but 4... just like no. 24 slot will have 4 first picks and four last picks... how is that different from any other snake draft?

only thing different is that were drafting by position... AND instead of drafting 2 players in the 6th round, we keep drafting just one player.

in all the funk and odl drafts, the bottom slots load up on two bigs (usually) while the top guys (1-10) load up on the top shelf players. since the past few seasons, guys like: lebron, paul, murphy, wade, jefferson, howard etc, have added so many new "great" choices to the data base, there's a terrific selection of 24 players per position now.

a by-position draft i think would add a new dimension to the process and make it more fun and would be an extra dynamic.

anyway, hope u'll join us, g. thanks for the consideration.

ya know what?

it didn't take a lot to sell me, lol.. just cuz I didn't re-up in the odl and I remember this from a few yrs ago and was intrigued then.

put me down for the last slot (selection), I don't care where I draft and it'll be easier to fill up that way.

The biggest variable is not where you draft... its where the positions land. useable SGs are a dime a dozen... if they come first then you lose out...unles Center comes second. (Or whatever components you draft around individually). Bottom line is that it doesn't matter (the slot selected) so much as the order of the positions.

Ideally.... if I picked 24th I would want C and PF come up 2 and 4 as I tend to build my teams around big men. First pick in both would be a bonus.

Considering getting in if credits are available and IF I can get over the idea of drafting based on position % (vs. listed position). Don't wait on me though... credits are scarce these days!

when u say they get 3 positions instead of two, i don't really see it that way since many players are multi-positional (and many are not). that's the appeal (imo).

pg's: paul, stockton, kidd, magic, billups, deron williams, rajon, oscar, brandon, calderon, frazier, wade, harper, fat lever, payton, cheeks, jerry west, moncrief, a. robertson, mookie, penny hardaway, d. walker, dumars, buse, terry porter... thats' not a bad group (25 guys there)... and doesnt even consider guys like jordan and brent barry who also play the 1 slot.

anyway, seems like a great challenge, and pg's are the smallest of the 5 groups.

lol... ok, gary! wouldn't be the same without, old friend. happy as house mice after a sunday family feast. slot tba.

and coley, thanks for your thoughts, and i agree with u. hope the random draft positions gods are kind. will leave the porch light on for ya.

I am confident enough in the abilities that I can build a good team with the 24th best at a position and the first at others. I will take the top players at two positions and the twenty fourth best at the other three any day of the week. It just creates a balance in the end
