Whatif you chose 12 teams for a 7th BCS? Topic

Temple, URI, Umass, Princeton, and UNLV have not been top level teams for a while. And St. Joe's had one great year and have since been average. Creighton has not even been one of the top teams in the MVC, you would have to put UNI, SIU, and Witchita St in over them.

I think you would have a hard time putting together 12 teams for a second BCS because it is too hard for them to stay on top of their current leagues for an extended period of time. You could give a spot to Memphis and Gonzaga, but outside of that who is reallya perennial powerhouse that you can say has a legit shot to get out of round 1 year in and year out.

The better questions might be who should be dropped from their current BCS conference?

I can't stand Temple when they are good, but they are ranked again and absolutely should be in. They just had a late Chaney early Dunphy transition. I believe St. Joe's has also had a few NT seasons and should be in the discussion.

HAHAHA St. Joe's has made out of the first round of the NT 1 time in the last 10 years and has only made the NT like 1 time in the last 5-6 years. This year again they stink.

I think people are too high on the A-10 just cause they have Memphis and Xavier. I mean even Temple has not made it out of the first round even 1 time in the last 10 years!

Memphis is in C-USA, not the A-10

Going on history alone, you'd have to consider Bradley over any of the other Missour Valley teams.

Bradley is 25th all-time in wins; has 31 post-season appearances; has been national RU twice and Sweet 16 four times (2006 the most recent). They also won four NITs when that tournament was more prestigious than it is now.

Northern Iowa, mentioned in an earlier post, has 5 NT appearances but hasn't won a NT game in 20 years.

(tongue in cheek) Based on recent history, the ACC would be better off dropping Duke and adding Xavier. Only once in the last 5 seasons has Duke advanced further than the Musketeers.

(seriously) When the Big East expanded, I still think it was a mistake to pick DePaul over Xavier. But the Big East wanted a presence the Chicago market and they didn't want two teams from Cincinnati. However, they have two teams in New Jersey (Rutgers and Seton Hall) that are only 20 miles apart. And Seton Hall is only 14 miles from NYC, home of St. John's.

Great replies so far guys. I am no expert, just wanted to throw my 12 out there.

Ya its about impossible to actually put together something like this cause there is always going to be a little mixup.

I mean do you take a historical team with lots of great tournament runs and a NC or two but that is been on the downside lately, or do you take that team that has went to 6 straight NTs.

Really when it comes down to it, its really about the money, who could bring in the most for the conference and thats the way they side.

And yes I said Memphis was in the wrong conference.

Money would be a large factor. That's why I put St Joesephs, UNLV, RI, and UMASS in there. Seem to be big budget schools.

FDBCS:

Mormons, Military, and a vacation:
Utah, Army, Navy, BYU, Air Force, Hawaii

Tumbleweed, Taters, and Rudy:
Notre Dame, Boise St, TCU, Fresno St, Houston, Tulsa

Very good....You know you might be on to something here. Although the best solution would be to scrap the Bull Crap Sh*t altogether. Or divide DIA....excuse me the FBS into two divisions....the BS division and the FBCS. Let the rest of the teams play for a real title, instead of a fictitious BS title that they will never qualify for, regardless of their resume.

This is going off real life (of course) and is throwing geography out the window. Base it off historical and current factors. Make it North, South, East, West, or whatever kind of divisions. Who would you pick if you were suddenly given the power by Nyles Grande? I apologize in advance for leaving out someone obvious. Here are my 12:

The PPNURI Conference

East
Temple
Rhode Island
UMASS
Xavier
St Josephs
Princeton

West
Memphis
Gonzaga
Utah
BYU
UNLV
Western Kentucky

Last 4 out: Charlotte, Creighton, UTEP, and Butler

Mostly the A10 and Mt West. No real surprise there I guess. Now some Football for the hell of it!

say what? sure, Hakeem and Clyde went on to HOF NBA careers, but there were some damned good players other than them on those teams

Larry Micheaux, Benny Anders, Alvin Franklin, Reid Gettys, Ricky Winslow, Cadillac Anderson, Dave Rose, Rob Williams, etc

Dave Rose beats pancreatic cancer over the summer, returns to coaching with a 21-2 record this year, and a super high win percent since being the BYU HC.. .766%.. great story for coaches vs cancer this year
