Do you want to see teams dog it in the last few games like they do in the nfl? There is only one good thing that comes out of this and thats more money for the greedy bastards at NCAA.

Most pro sports let about half of the eligible teams in. Baseball is the exception. NCAA could expand to 128 and still not be at the proportion that NHL and NBA are at. NBA has sub .500 teams in the field every year.

I don't remember when the NCAA last expanded, but I bet there was plenty of "sky is falling" talk back then, about how expanding to 64 would kill the tournament.

Why does it matter so much to you? Its still only 27% of d-1 teams which is far less than the other sports postseasons. This will also make for better games early in the tournament and plus there will be more games. Don't get me wrong I'm not for the expansion, but if they do it it won't really matter.

1985 is when they expanded to 64. Before then, only a fraction of the interest was there.

Yes i really am, all this is going to do is get more mid majors in and some on the bubble major teams. Its not like the 6th place team of the Big South conference is going to get in. These are still quality teams that are gonna get in.

How about Virginia Tech vs Arizona or Marquette vs Nevada from this source?

12 vs 21 seems to be a money matchup to me.

It really all depends on what team you root for and what conference you pull for.

If your a Mid-Major Supporter or even just someone who likes to watch these teams, this is where the action will be at! Right now Mid-Majors seasons mean nothing and here is why.

1. Don't beat Duke, MSU, KU, or UK well your probably not getting in with an at large bid you "second-rate" conference
2. Don't have Gonzaga or Butler as a team name well sorry your going to have to win your conference most likely

In the end its how you look at it. Also, I think big conference basketball currently has a regular season that is already dumbed down. Its really only for the conference championships and rivals right now anyways so I don't really see your point how it makes it that much worse and here is why.

1. Be in a good BCS conference and go over .500 and your probably in.
2. After about 5 games in conference play usually only the top 2 teams are fighting for the championship unless the teams drop the ball (look at the big 10 this year and how MSU dropped 3 in a row to make it "interesting")
3. You were in the bottom 2-4 teams of the conference last year? Well good luck getting any more win this year suckers- after all your stuck in the basement.

In the end I don't really buy into the regular season meaning less. The top 2-3 teams will still fight for the championship in conference and everyone else will be in the same boat as now.

A couple more teams will be "safe" from elimination from the NCAA tourney but the ones fighting for a spot now will just be a couple spots below them in the conference making those teams actually come out gunning even more for a win as they have a chance at a bid without running the conference tourney.
