Are you KIDDING? Most of these guys have no originality & cant think ahead, or plan ahead for What IF, each round will take a week or 2... I had my round 2 picks emailed the same day the 1st round was announced & they havent even thought about theirs yet!? I might be wrong (sorry) or maybe Im NOT?

graymatter, you're ahead of the game. It took me some research and actually drafting the rest of my team on a tentative basis (figuring I could adjust it as I need later), so I too have a could idea not just who I can add for my 5th pitcher (only needed l replacement) + his 4 teammates. But it takes some figuring to wind up within the salary cap.

By my figuring there is the l perfect (master...) owner, then
5 who need 1 more pitcher
6 who need 2 more pitchers
6 who need 3 more pitchers
6 who need 4 more pitchers

My suggestion is that if you need 3 or more new pitchers, you'll have to think outside the "bun" or select pitchers you might not ordinarily think of using on a team in order to not keep picking what others will also select.... Anyway, its an idea.

Wow graymatter. And I thought I was cynical. Some people might have had what happened to me happen. It took me over an hour to rethink my second round.

My first round picks all had their own backup choices. But, All my backup choices got picked. So for my 2 replacements I went back to my original list of 21 pitchers(10 still availible) and found 3 reasonable choices that covered my offensive spots now open. So I sent mine in and have one backup choice for round three. If I had to repick 4 i might not be in yet.

poetfred, I understand the thinking, but I would do the exact opposite. I'm continuing to pick the best possible picks even if I expect others to pick them. If I can't have the best possible starters, then I don't want my competition to have them either. I only had 2 to pick, but I would do the same with 3 or 4 to pick. If that leads to more rounds so be it.

I had a list of 16 pitchers that I thought would be feasible. All but 2 are gone, so it took me some time to come up with some choices that can get me a competitive overall team.

while i understand your reasoning, paul, we (a good of golf friends) used to have a PGA golf pool in which nearly every single member always picked the top 3-4 ranked players and there just wasn't much sense of competition until we limited ourselves to not picking the top 10 ranked and top 10 money winners; then it became a much more competitive pool. And while I think I have a couple of the best pitchers in Newhouser and Lolich (just both happen to be Tigers), I also have Mike Garcia and Eckersley--not many usually use Garcia and Eckersley is usually used only as a RP. But I think I have a good combination with N and L + G and E so far at any rate?? Only potential problem with your tact, paul, may be winding up limiting yourself to even lesser pitchers!

i am starting to see why i got maddux... if you use his best years, his teammates aren't very good. if you want good teammates he's no better than 50 other pitchers.

The bad part was I thought I was taking second tier pitchers W. Ford, D. Martinez, K. Brown, and C Lea. I thought my only sure loss was going to be Grove. Well the only one I got out of the mess was Lea. I would have taken Garcia but instead took D. Martinez. I was really hoping 3 would get through. My strategy for the second round is to try not to be so creative and fake myself out and go for what I want and not what I think will get through.

How many owners have not made their second round picks yet? Forums shut down tomorrow morning.
