Very good thread, seble. Good work. And thanks to those with the specific examples. Good stuff.

It's minor, but the recruits generated in Knight under the new engine do not have JuCo players ranked. I've already sent a ticket on the issue.

Not the biggest problem ever and certainly falls within the realm of a possible fluke, but it seems that 11 rebounds in 23 minutes for an SG with 32 REB and 37 ATH is quite a bit high, even playing at the SF position.

I've been very unhappy with how rebounding is being determined in the new engine. I start a lineup of 3 bigs, including a pf at sf that has 84 reb/78 ath. I have a four-deep rotation of centers that rebound well (98, 97, 91, 87) and are also athletic (67, 82, 74, 54).

I've seen this problem with my team and others all season, but the last two games are great examples. Both games I played teams that started three guards, with the guard at sf having reb between 25-30. In games I expected to dominate on the boards, I actually got outrebounded.

(I've also seen a trend with guards that have low reb getting more rebounds than they used to, don't know it that is directly related but it is bothersome on its own.)

And not that I am linking this to the rebounding issue, but it's also really obvious that HCA in DI is too strong. (And you can't compare it to real life or even other worlds until conference play has concluded. But anyone who's been paying attention has noticed it.)

in my last game, 37 of the 40 shots taken by SGs were 3's. where are the mid-range jumpers? nova ran a -2 gtown +2.

Leavell was at +1, Galey 0.

Frankly, I think the variations in performance im most cases can be explained by factors beyond core ratings of the players. What I mean is my 82 rebounder is affected by more than just the rebounding and ATH/SPD of his counterpart. Am I or my opponent plus or minus in DEF? Am I or my opponent shooting more or or fewer 3's? So I can live with games where my SG goes 3-10 and the other guy's goes 7-8 even though he's lower rated. I don't see any indication, frankly of individual perofrmance issues.

The only things I've noted are the exagerated 3 point shooting #s and a softening of the assist #s. I've heard the home court volatility is a DI issue. DII seems ok there.

Seems the press issue has settled down. I see teams succeeding with the press correlated to the talent they have.

The later SIMing is of no consequence as long as I have an idea when it will be scheduled regularly.

I think the complexity of this game will always require review and tweaking.

no real major problems, but my tonight my SG took all of his shots from beyond the 3-pt arc; shooting 13-22 against a 2-3 zone set at 0 in the first half then +2 in the second. I had him set to '+1' 3-pt shooting for the game. I guess its not a huge issue, but with other teams bringing up I thought I'd give this example.
Also, distro was set to 15, with my PG (Walker) set at 14, SF (Beck) set to 10, Brekke set to 18, Cash to 16, Noguera to 9 ... etc. He took 36% of my teams overall shots, but I don't think thats much of an issue.

Playing time / substitution

http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/GameResults/BoxScore.aspx?gid=5823451

This game was a complete blowout yet SF Edward McIntire played 27 mins and his backup Marvin Ebeling only played 11 mins.

The starting C Ricky Barger played 24 mins and his backup Frederick Arthur only played 14 mins. These are about the same # of mins those players play in close games.

27 pt loss on the road, preceded by a 33 pt win at home, all 3 teams involved top twenty RPI teams

it appears homecourt is worth 20-25 points to most members of tark big east, fairly predictable actually

I looked at my other teams, here is a sampling from the last few days:

1- my duke team in world 5 has played 2 90ish rpi sim conf games the last 2 nights, a 34 pt home win and a 9 pt road loss

2- my ucla team in world 7 won its last 2 home games by 27 and 42, vs a ranked team and an unranked kentucky team that is pretty good, although 50 rpi (actaully a 3rd game was sandwhiched between, a 37 pt home win vs a high poor RPI team - sorry I missed that)

3- my last 2 d2 games world 10, a 38 pt win at home vs a 7 rpi team, and a 2 pt win on the road vs a 50-100ish RPI team, sure appears to be working the same as d1, based on a much smaller sample size

I'm in Phelan and Allen and have played 32 regular season games thus far in the new engine. You can call me an apologist all you want, but with the exception of one ***-kicking I handed a Sim where the FT difference was 60 to 8 (fouls were 43 to 6), I haven't seen anything that sticks out as odd to me. And that exception was a craptastic team running an FCP with 6 FR, 2 SO and about a 130pt ratings gap. And as far as I'm concerned, they deserve that kind of a beatdown for being dumb enough to run the FCP with that kind of talent/IQ gap.

It seems 3 point shooting is a bit too easy, I've benefitted from it on all 3 of my teams using the new engine but I still think it should be tweaked. In all 3 of my AM games from this morning I had a perimeter player hit a ridiculous amount of 3s and score huge #s. I understand that it came against minus defenses but it's still a bit unrealistic for guys to be going 17-29 from 3, 15-25 and 12-18. And remember this all came from the same set of games, so it's not like this is just some random 1 time occurence for each player. I puposely upped each player's distro for these games because of the teams/defenses I was playing against and no suprise each player scored a career high.

The first two of those games you at least have good to very good players going against absolutely horrific defenders...that third one is for sure a headscratcher though.

My players had big advantages in all 3 games, definitely, but 17, 15 and 12 3s while all shoot great percentages is extreme.

Here is a link to Jason Sullivan's stats: http://whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Stats.aspx?tid=12092&pid=1486759

He shoots 52% from 3 while taking nearly 10 a game, and I've played the #6 SOS and play in 1 of the toughest conferences ever in Tark's Big East. He's also had 3 games where he's made at least 10 3s and has shot well over 50% in all 3 games. However he is about as good as a SG can get, 95ath/100sp/99per/90bh.

Here is Travis Bushnell: http://whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Stats.aspx?tid=12214&pid=1487030

He takes 8 3s a game and shoots 52.7% from 3 against the #3 SOS and in the toughest conference in Tark D2 in by far the tougher division in the conference. He's also had 3 games where he's made at least 10 3s. His ratings are rather average for a SG, 53at/71sp/74per/90bh. His BH is obviously well above average for D2 but everything else is only OK.

Here is Brett Overton: http://whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Stats.aspx?tid=14212&pid=1494140

He's shooting "only" 47.1% from 3 while taking over 10 3s a game against the #6 SOS and he plays with by far the weakest PG of the 3. He's an elite D2 player, and playing at SF he matches up with a lot of slower players with his ratings being 46ath/98sp/87per/76bh.

Like I said I've benefitted from this so it's not like I'm some coach who is getting torched by this strategy and complaining about it. I like that my players can score more, before this season I had at most 3 players average over 20ppg right now with my 3 teams playing in the new engine I have 4 guys averaging over 20ppg. I just feel it could be a problem, or things could be working properly and guys like Jason Sullivan and Brett Overton will dominante in the new engine but will be harder to come by, so these extreme results will not be common.

Let's respect seble's wishes and try to limit this to postings with examples and not hijack the thread. (That said, guys shooting 17-29 from 3p, even if the defender is weak, is pretty crazy.)
