Hey guys. IS this taking over for a team mid year? or beginning of the year?

beginning of year...just rolled...have 2 openings left

What is great about this league is the owners and the commish.  We'll wait for the right guy to step in for the long run rather than fill with anybody.  This is why our turnover is so low every season and why we end up waiting less than most worlds after rollover.

Great world. Quality coaches who like to have fun on the chat board. High level of competition.

I'll take the Philly team.  I dropped a note to another league as well, and I'm only looking to manage 1 team (so I can give it the attention it needs), so I'll jump on with the league I hear back from first.

great league, low turnover

we made a committment a long time ago to get experienced owners in it for the long term, rather than pull in anyone in order to roll faster...

Texas is a team that is ready to compete and win right now.  They have alot of veterans with expiring contracts after this upcoming season so payroll will be freed up this season and next.  Also, have some mid-twenties pitchers that can be built around moving into the future.  Its a franchise with a storied history that can continue to win with a good GM at the helm.
This a very brief synopsis of the last franchise left.  Come on in, the water is warm.

Here's a breakdown of the available teams:

AL North

Former Toledo Franchise (65-97)

http://whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=515

Even with a stable ownership situation this team has struggled in the tough AL North. With a team batting avg of .272 this team was able to hit however there was a problem getting runners across the plate once they got on base. Ernest Dougherty (26, 82, .324) & Cy Keats (28, 82, .266) led the hit parade but can use some more help to get this team back in the hunt. The bigger concern is the pitching staff. Only closer Bip Stieb (18 sv, 2.90) showed any real consistency as the hurlers posted a 5.41 era with no pitcher hitting double digits in wins but 4 had 10 or more loses. The farm system can offer some help for the offense however there is little pitching talent to aid the ML club. This team needs a veteran hand to help rebuild the talent throughout the organization. Someone looking for a challenge and that likes to totally rebuild a franchise will find this to be a perfect opportunity.

AL South

Former Texas Franchise (85-77)

http://whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/FranchiseProfile.aspx?fid=525

This storied franchise with 10 playoff appearances and 5 WS rings has put up consecutive 85-77 records while missing the playoffs both seasons. For the 3rd straight season a leadership change has occured and the hope is the next owner can once again get this team competing on a yearly basis for a WS trophy. A .286 team batting avg, 4 players with 30+ HR's, 3 with 100+ RBI's show that this team will not struggle to put runs up on the board. 5 pitchers had 10 or more wins and Pat Yamamoto had 34 saves giving the appearance of a solid staff. However a team ERA of 5.03 clearly shows changes need to be made so that the pitching staff will not waste the offensive production. Any help on the mound will need to be found outside the organization as the farm is bare of pitching talent. There are some talented position players in the MiL system so moving them or some of the ML guys could be done to help pick up an arm or two if the new ownership prefers to avoid the FA market. With a few additions to the pitching staff this team could once again fight for a title or some of the offensive talent could be moved to help restock the depleted farm and solidify the teams future. This team is set up nicely to move in what ever direction an owner prefers so it will be a good fit for any veteran owner no matter what his preferred strategy upon taking over a new team.

This is a very solid world with a strong neucleus of veteran owners that can boast little to no drama and very little turnover each season. The new season will start quickly as we find quality owners to join our world. Don't hesitate if you're looking for a stable world to join.
