Newbie question RE: Evaluating Hitters Topic

It's all of the weightings added together.  It gives more of a normalized number.  So "80" is good, instead of  "1,700".

I'm new to Hardball Dynasty and would love to hear about how HBD veterans evaluate hitting talent.

Right now, I am looking at Contact, Power, Vs.L, Vs.R, Batting eye, etc., but I would like to come up with a formula that gives more weighting for the most important categories.  I threw a workable formula together for pitchers based on a previous forum thread but hitters has been a bit more challenging.

Thanks for the help guys...I am really enjoying the game so far!
BTW, what was your formula for evaluating pitchers?
Here's what I am using for pitchers: (CON*6 + vR*5 + P1*4 + vL*3 + STA*2 + VEL*2 + GB*1) / 23.  Thanks for all of your help guys.
Not sure I would want to include STA as part of a formula such as this because STA really has less to do with performance as it is more about availability.  You've got a formula with six apples and one orange.

Plus you're giving P1 a weight of 4 while completely disregarding P2-P5.  I'd want to at least include P2 in the formula since all pitchers have at least a P1 and a P2.

Plus sometimes P2 is their better pitch.

I think it would be better to break it down into a starter/reliever formula.  A reliever is fine w/ 2 great pitchers, many starters have 3.  A starter only has to be available every 5th day, a Reliever you want as many innings as possible.  Seems like this leads to two seperate rankings systems.

I would not include Stamina, but instead evaluate the reuslt of the test versus the STA/DUR combo to make sure the guy can actuially give you enough innings. As a general rule, I want stamina and DUR combined to exceed 90, with one of them being in the 70s or higher and the other at least 25 (25DUR/70 STA or 70DUR/25 STA)
